                  The change (part - 3)

Continuation-

Daniel was shocked and if shocked had a face, no doubt it would be Daniel's . His jaw dropped so low it won't be surprising if a fly went in .

50 years later-

Daniel's jaw was still dropped- rather hanging and he was still as shocked as he was 50 years ago .( Jk it's just about 2 - 5 mins)

Beside Daniel ( whose jaw was still hanging in the air) was Adam, waiting to hear a response from him.

“ Are his jaws not hurting from all that hanging.” Adam thinks. He was concerned as to if the kid might dislocate his jaw if he kept up with all the jaw dropping he was doing . Even though Adam was worried about Daniel , he had a ghost of a smile on his face , “ He looks funny.” was what he thought while reaching for Daniel's face.

Daniel ( still in his world of shockism ) was surprised when a hand much larger than his had shut his jaw up and was reaching for his face. He abruptly scoot back but not as much as to fall off the bed and looked at Adam whose hand was left hanging on the air ( Now it's his turn to hang) “I wanted to check if his jaw was okay , but I guess not.” Adam thinks.

He realised what he had done was quite rude and immediately apologised '“ Sorry, I'm not really used to strangers touching me and I was quite surprised when your hand suddenly came near my face.” Daniel says while crawling back to the same spot he was sitting in before he had moved back .

“It's alright, I'm also at fault for touching you without informing you .” Adam says, dropping his hanging hand onto his lap.

Silence fall between both of them as they stare at each other ,“ Have you decided?” Adam asks , breaking the silence between them ,“About what?” Daniel enquires back. “ On if your willing to be my son.” Adam says . Daniel's mind malfunctions , he had completely forgot about this topic when they talking earlier .

He hesitates , he was not ready to be adopted by a  person he had just met and moreover he couldn't just trust a stranger who came out of nowhere asking him to be his son . He still has a mothe-

“Oh” he thinks “ I ‘had’ a mother , not anymore.” his face becomes sullen as he realises he had lost his mother in just the span of a day that he had most likely not expected . Adam notices Daniel's face which had gotten sullen and he looked really sad . “Is something the matter?” Adam enquired , “O-oh , it's nothing.” Daniel says .

Adam opens his mouth to say something but choses not to and decides to let Daniel find solace in himself as he had guessed that he was probably sad about his mother's death.

Silence falls between them again but this time it was a comfortable silence which makes Daniel lost in his thoughts . He knew he could not trust the stranger beside him but somewhere or something deep inside his mind was telling him it was okay to trust this man . So he worked up his courage and spoke up , “ um mister” “ Yes?” Adam responds . “Can you give me some time to think about it?” Daniel asks .

Adam considers the request Daniel had asked him and responds back to him saying ,“ Of course. You can take your time.” Daniel gets relieved when Adam accepts to give him some time . “But . While you take your time considering it .” Adam pauses , “ You'll be living with me .”
