The two Mana Zones fought for supremacy, neither one gaining any ground splitting the battleground in two, knowing that, the two circled each other like wild animals, the battle between these two forces of nature could be felt for miles.
***Meanwhile in the Capitol***
"Why is it so hot?" Julius said as he fanned himself during the late fall day.
"You don't think..." Marx trailed off but they both knew what he was thinking.
"Mereoleona." They both said in unison.
***Back to the Fight***
Ryu shot multiple bone spikes at Mereoleona using his Mana Zone. She was caught a little off guard that a ten-year-old could use Mana Zone given that most kids don't even get their grimoire until they're fifteen, so she got grazed by one of the bones, taking a chunk from her arm.
Ryu then sent his knives that he had been using for his defense hurtling toward her, a few managing to scratch her but that wasn't the point, the point was to distract her while he would turn the tide of this fight.
After fending off the knives Mereoleona was ready to send a counterattack until Ryu suddenly ended his Mana Zone, actually, it seemed like all of Ryu's mana had disappeared. She couldn't sense him even with her increased mana sense ability. She couldn't see him either; it was like he had vanished off the face of the earth; she couldn't smell, see or hear the kid. She still had her Mana Zone up giving her a sensory boost, but there was also this eerie feeling in the air and the fog that had recently rolled in wasn't helping.
Out of nowhere, a flaming blade was speeding toward the back of her head. She was quick to respond, sending a fire-coated fist straight for him luckily he was just able to dodge, Ryu landed a few feet away before he disappeared back into the fog.
There are three things a wise man fears.
Ryu took another swing at her to be blocked by her Mana Zone.
A storm at sea.
At this point Mereoleona was sending her boosted attacks in random directions, none of them seem to hit as she got a few more small cuts from the kids' attacks.
A moonless night.
Ryu's attacks seemed to get more precise and lethal the more this continued as she got a deep cut on her thigh.
And the silence of a vengeful man.
Ryu reappeared, his blade deep in Mereoleona's stomach.
"Not bad, kid."
She choked out a handful of blood as Ryu lay her body on the ground.
A/N: ok so I know the idea of a ten year old "beating" Mereoleona is nuts but, I noticed that she heavily relies on her frankly, insanely precise mana sense. so if you put her up V.S. someone who can completely hide there mana...
plus its not like Ryu's uninjured here. eh, you'll see that next chapter.
