-Blaze POV-Ugh. I fucking hate this.
Too many smells. Good and bad smells.
Fresh baked bread, coffee brewing, human body odor, and dog shit. Not to mention all the air and fuel pollution. It makes my head ache.
I slip on my sunglasses in spite of the the cloudy weather as Micah pulls his large pickup into the parking lot of the local supplier.
Mate.
Asher whines mournfully once again in my mind and my eye twitches. I'm frustrated with him acting this way. He's only just become aware of our mate but he wants them here with us right this second.
I urge myself to be patient even though I don't really have any left. I want our mate too but you don't see me reduced to a puddle of despair.
Is this even normal?
"What?" Micah asks as he turns off the engine.
I sigh as I turn my head to look him,
Asher is acting strange. I don't think it's normal."Yeah, Flynn too. I think it's cause we have no clear path to our mates. They must feel powerless. Feeling powerless is unbearable to an alpha. I'm just surprised they aren't raging out and breaking shit up."
I sigh as understanding soothes my anxiety. My brother is right it's strange to even hear a sentence with the words alpha and powerless in the same sentence.
Asher wants to act but has no clear understanding of how or what to do with the intense yearning he feels.
I look up at the sound of the heavy drivers door opening and Micah sliding out of his seat.
I urge my mind to continue being rational unlike Asher. With a huff I push my body to follow.
The store owner is a short husky man with a thick reddish beard and thinning hair at the base of his skull.
"Back so soon?" He greets us warmly as we enter the warehouse floor.
I hum as greeting but as always I step back letting Micah take lead in discussion.
While they discuss things further it's gives me plenty of time to comfort my wolf.
Please stop moping count on me to find our mate.
I tell him gently as I run a gently mental hand through his fur.He whimpers into my touch.
But it aches.
I know just rest and rely on me. You'll have our mate soon.
He sighs as his body relaxes allowing himself a fitful rest by the time Micah and I prepare to load the bed of the truck.
I'm able to do most of the wood by myself as Micah positions the boxes and the other materials compactly to free more space to slide the heavy wood boards in.
After we get everything in we then secure everything with rope so it won't slide out as we ride since there was no hope in closing the bed door.
I'm relieved when we've finally finished. I'm eager to leave this noisy town overfilled with sounds and smells.
We are riding down the peaceful main road when Asher startles awake.
Mate!
He howls at the same time the truck comes to a sudden stop.
"Mate!" Micah says the moment a soft sweet smell starts to tickle my nose.
It's the warm, loving smell of freshly baked blueberry muffins. It's so rich it warms me and dances against my tastebuds.
