Ugh, so boring, Dion thought as he lowered his chin and rolled his eyes so hard.
It was the meet and greet portion of the evening and he was bored to fucking death. High societies alphas of every race were giving lackluster. There were many handsome faces of every color and creed who bragged about the same boring credentials and none with the scent that he was pretty sure he would dream about from now on.
When he was almost at his limit his mother appeared and stole him away for a makeup check. He would usually complain but the second his mother dragged him away behind a curtain to fuss and primp over his hair and makeup he breathed a huge sigh of relief.
"How's my baby holding up?" The Empress asks and he almost starts to cry.
"I hate this." He admits and Hazel looks down at his son sympathetically.
"I hated my presentation party as well. I swear to you this is the most naked you'll ever feel in your whole life."
"Really?"
"Really baby. On your wedding night, it's only one set of eyes. That's easier I think."
"If you say so."
"Trust in your father. No matter what happens. He would not fail you...I would kill him if he did."
Dion smiles up at his mother, "I love you, Ammaa."
Hazel tucks a long curl behind Dion's delicate shoulder, "I love you too, and so does your father."
Dion nods as he lets his mother lead him away from the most privacy he's had all day. As the bodies part letting the Empress pass a slow-moving murmer makes its way through the crowd.
"What's happening?" Dion asks his mother as they make their way across the room.
"He's here," Hazel replies and Dion's feet stall. The Empress stops his pace to look down at a clearly terrified Omega.
"Trust in your father and I." He reminds the smaller omega.
Hazel drags Dion along leading him to the seats designated for the Royal family. He deposits Dion in the seat beside his sister before taking his place beside the Emperor.
Dion's heart picks up pace as the doors open. It's so quiet you could hear a pin drop before the distinctive sounds of a procession of boots starts. The doorway suddenly darkens with the big bodies of the Demon Kings army of hell hounds. The sound brings Dion's anxiety to a fever pitch he lowers his gaze to his long ivory nails. He so wanted to bite at them which is the reason his mother forces him to wear them.
But even the thought of the rattle snake venom the nails are lacquered with can distract Dion from the steady pace of war boots nearing. Then there's the smell, the husky musk of feral alpha, wild and mean takes over the hall. Dion would like to think he was above being aroused by such wild men. But the simple truth was Omegas love that scent and he didn't need to peer at his side to know Deanna was leaning forward in her seat. Dion takes a deep breath to single out the one he craves most. It's wild, and hungry. It's completely unlike the many alphas who danced into his sight, dressed in frills and drenched in perfume.
