A Few Weeks Later
Madelyn's P.O.V.
I sat in the white hospital room silently because they've sedated me so much it's tiring to do anything else. I've only had a few headaches and nosebleeds; he must be keeping his distance... I wonder why? Unless he wants me to die here. That's reasonable. The sedative they're giving me isn't administered by IV. It's funneled in through the air vents. I keep trying to tell the nurses that the sedative isn't called for, but they think I'm crazy.
It's cold. Freezing compared to the blaring heat outside. At least I have a window this time. I can see the sky clearly; its overcast and gray. The clouds are a pale greenish-gray color that only come before something bad is about to happen. I wish it would rain. The flowers several floors below me are withering and dying, at least they should live.
A nurse enters my room; I can tell by the squeaking of their shoes-- no wait. These are different. The squeak isn't as high-pitched. It sounds deeper and elongated. I don't look up.
"You don't have to be shy," I say monotonously. "I don't bite."
"The head nurse says otherwise," A male voice answered.
I glanced at him. He was lean, pale but a darkness about him. His vibes and aura were off-- somehow godly and evil. I knew I wouldn't like him. "She's a liar."
"She has a scar," He responded calmly.
He's going to last a while. Joy... "They all do. Their scars are from other patients. They hate me, so they blame me. It's really quite simple," I gave him a look of pure innocence. One that would make him underestimate me, since I don't need to be restrained... again.
"It doesn't matter anyway. I'm just here to give you your meds and escort you to see your visitors," He sighed and passed me two paper cups.
I peered into the first one. Six in total. I sighed and looked at him. "Did they tell you to give me a double dosage?"
"Just shut up and take them. Your people are waiting," He huffed.
I popped the pills in my mouth and swallowed them with a sip of water. "You never told me your name."
"Only if you can figure it out."
"Don't Rumplestiltskin me. Give me a hint if you must." I leaned forward on my elbows, resting my chin on the heel of my palm.
"I'll give you a riddle only if you agree to behave," He replied coldly.
I stood up and slightly stumbled to the wheelchair that was apparently 'protocol' now. I motioned for him to continue.
He slowly pushed me into the large pale yellow room with the huge grated windows. When we were almost there he began to speak. "I am infinitely dark but even darker still. I can be eaten, but one of me is poisonous. Even the moon's light can not enlighten my silence. Who am I?" He parked me by one of the side walls. The dry wall had an eight inch crack in it, like it was made to be there; just for me...
"Nightshade," I whispered as I watched my father walk towards me. "Take me and my father back to my room. I'm not feeling well," I stared blankly through my father rather than at him.
"Süßes Herz, is everything okay?" Vati held fake concern in his eyes and put a hand on my shoulder. "I'll come by tomorrow then," He slipped a thick wad of paper into my nightgown pocket as Nightshade wheeled me away.
"Lying, inconsiderate, dumb fucker," I mumbled.
"Daddy issues, much?" Nightshade sneered.
I remained silent.
"Whatever it is you probably deserve it. I mean, just from meeting you then the stories from the nurses. You're a hell in a hand basket," He commented while he wheeled me back to my bedside. "All right; up and out. I have better things to do."
I stood and made my way slowly to the bed feeling dizzy. I slide beneath the thin, cold sheets of the bed and curled into the fetal position. Tomorrow has to be better. It will be better.
A loud knocking came from my doorway. Another hour, another nurse...
"Harris, how are you feeling?" Nurse Joy asked.
She was the only one who was relatively nice to me.
"Woozy and numb," I whispered as the room began to fade.
Nightshade and Joy stood over me. "Perfect."
Sorry everyone. I know this was kind of a filler, but if I did this chapter and the next chapter as one, it would be exceedingly long. The next one will be much better I promise.
