Fun with Blueberries

Waking up, Berry grinned with excitement as he thought of what he'd read about what was happening that day—Saint Patrick's Day.

Jumping to his feet, he pulled on a green set of his clothes he had been preparing ever since he had heard of a day where you wear green.

Stepping out, Berry soon stepped in front of a mirror and laughed as he realized that he looked like a young lepprechaun, all decked out in green but without the beard.

After admiring himself in the mirror, Berry ran out and eventually made his way to the human library, where he saw Matthias and Jace staring down at the humans. Jace was staring at his lover Samantha, and Matthias was trying to watch over his friend Lukas.

"How are you?" Berry asked, getting both of their attention and causing them to jump back.

"Hey Blueberry," Jace said in a calm and dignified tone as he and Matthias turned around in surprise only to realize it was just Berry. He quickly turned around though as he heard Samantha asking Lukas for tips on fighting.

As they relaxed, Berry looked at their clothing to see if they were wearing green. Jace, as usual after he had begun to hang out with Samantha, was wearing a set of doll clothes Samantha had bought for him. Today it included a blue sweater, black jeans, and a pair of yellow sneakers. Matthias, for his part, was wearing a set of roughly sewed fabrics he clearly had made himself. They were colored with dull browns and greys, and Berry let another mischevious grin show as he noticed that neither were wearing green.

Reaching over, Berry pinched each of his friends on the cheek and smiled as they turned toward him in surprise. After a few seconds, Jace realized what happened and burst into laughter before squeezing through the vents they were looking through and landed in front of Samantha.

"I need a quick change of clothes," Jace quickly shouted, "a kid just pinched me because I'm not wearing any green."

"Huh?" Both Matthias and Samantha asked at the same time. Matthias then looked down to see Lukas shaking with laughter.

"What's this about wearing green?" Matthias asked, still unsure of what was going on. "And why did you pinch me?"

"It's Saint Patrick's Day," came Berry's answer, "so if you're not wearing green, you're allowed to be pinched."

"I am wearing green!" Matthias replied, flashing his cloak before realizing he was thinking of one of his other cloaks. Thinking quick, Matthias pulled his hood off. "My  eyes are green. See?" Indeed, his eyes were a lovely lime green, contrasted with the deep red of his hair.
