ACOVS - A Court Of Violet Shadows, Jacob Bertrand playing Azriel one shots that fall into a plot-line with Rose and Azriel.

(unedited atm)

The room was silent, you swore that you could see the echoing of your breaths falling off the walls. You heaved with each breath as you looked around the room. You had been alone for such a long time. You remember the darkness of the room you sat in for hundreds of years, the whispers seemed loud. You used to cry, wanting to get away from the darkness, but then your shadows would flow out of your soul into space, it was like a protection. Nothing could reach you and nothing could harm you. The darkness would swirl until you fell asleep and your mind would finally shut off. You wished that there was someone there, just one person to hold you and let you know that you would be alright.

Your mind created illusions in those many years, the only times you knew they weren't real was because when you'd reach out to touch them back, they would disappear. At first you saw Rhysand, you thought he was coming to save you. He'd open the door to the room you were trapped in, and let you go. He'd bring you home and everything would be okay. Then it was Azriel, the deep feelings you held close to you, swirling through your shadows, you swore that you'd feel his arms wind tight around your body, pulling you close. Making you feel warm and giving you a semblance of hope that you weren't alone. You'd look up to see the lines of his face, and soft blue eyes looking down at you.

The memories would rush back into view during your long nights, you remembered the first time you had ever met Azriel. Rhysand was only 13 when Azriel came to the camp, you were only 9. Azriel had a dark though innocent presence, you'd sneak around the house to catch a glimpse of the shadowsinger. Cassian had caught on to your crush early on, mocking you once he caught you. As you continued to grow you started to gain the courage to talk to Azriel, once you did, the two of you quickly became friends. You never stopped looking at him like he had hung the moon. You never stopped the lingering looks and eventual touches. When your group was separated by your father, you were utterly heartbroken. You had eventually found them again years later, your love only grew for the shadowsinger. The times he would make you laugh and when he'd hold you when you were upset.

Now that you were free it was hard to remember where you were, that you weren't trapped in the darkness. That Rhysand and Azriel were really there, that you weren't alone in a room full of loved ones. You were fragile, like glass and no one knew how to act around you. You knew that Feyre had been trapped for a little while and Amren had been locked in a prison for years before she escaped. But they weren't mute like you, they had light in their eyes and a smile could curve their lips. You just seemed to look at people, taking in the words that they said one syllable at a time, watching their mouth move and their eyes shift.

Lucien was new to you but he was the one to find you, he was very kind to you. You were grateful for what he had done for you, you weren't sure what you could do to make it up to him. Rhysand had kept close to you after the meeting with the other courts, he was always making sure you were okay, or that Azriel was close to you, or Cassian was keeping an eye on you. You had to have someone around and it was evident from what happened the first night you'd been here. You're practically terrified to be left alone. You had tried but it was like your whole body panicked, fear would radiate through your whole body. They tried to leave you alone a couple nights ago and they had awoken to the house full of dark shadows, that had surrounded you to soothe you. Your shadows were very different from Rhysand's or Azriel's. They didn't know you had shadows when you were younger, but Rhysand assumes that with the trauma they found you, to protect you as they usually did.

You wouldn't admit to anyone that you wanted Azriel around, but when the subject was brought up, Azriel always stepped up to take care of you or watch over you. After that first night, Rhysand had always assumed that Azriel would step up and you weren't sure why. But you felt this connection with Azriel, like a tether connected the two of you, the closer he was to you the safer and more whole you felt. Maybe it was because you've been in love with Azriel since you first met him, or maybe it was because of that first night. He had made you feel so safe in your arms, something you had always dreamed of in those dark shadows became true.
