JEALOUS GIRL
Gates mansion
Super long chapter (2k+ words)

Over the next few days, not much happened except for a tragic event—the mayor was killed in a hit-and-run by someone driving a blue Cadillac. This incident had intensified the police's efforts and ignited public outcry from the residents of Jericho.

Évangéline was in Enid and Wednesday's room, now fully involved in Wednesday's plans.

"I've been reflecting on my less-than-enthusiastic response to your surprise soirée," Wednesday said, sitting opposite Enid and Évangéline, still maintaining her characteristic aloofness. "And I must admit, I regret not showing my gratitude more appropriately."

Enid perked up from her spot on the bed. "You really mean it?" she asked, swaying her shoulders in excitement.

"Take the win, Enid," Évangéline said, placing a reassuring hand on Enid's shoulder. She gave Wednesday a subtle nod, making sure Enid's attention was elsewhere.

"If only we could get off campus for a little birthday redo," Wednesday mused. "Just the three of us. Too bad the school is on lockdown."

Évangéline walked to the window, followed by Wednesday and Enid. "Look at that full moon," she said, trying to inspire an idea.

Enid's eyes lit up. "Oh, what if I say I'm about to wolf out and get a pass to the lupin cages? And you two could volunteer to lock me in."

"My deviousness has finally rubbed off on you," Wednesday remarked, chuckling. She turned to Thing, who gave a thumbs-up while pausing his Rubik's cube.

The girls started to leave when Enid had another thought. "Oh, we should wear our snoods!"

"Don't worry, Ev, I have a purple one I was going to give you," Enid said.

"Oh, I left mine at fencing," Wednesday added, looking regretful.

"Well, I don't have one, so I wouldn't be able to join in," Évangéline shrugged.

"Don't worry, Ev, I have a purple one I was going to give you." Enid waved off Évangéline's concern. "And actually, Wednesday, you left yours at the Weathervane. Luckily, Bianca brought it back." Enid held out the snoods to her friends.

"Like a monkey's paw," Wednesday commented, taking her snood. Évangéline accepted hers with a grateful smile.

The three girls left the room, with Enid leading the way, missing the small high-five exchanged between Wednesday and Évangéline and Enid's eye roll.

Wednesday had arranged for Tyler to give them a ride. Évangéline had always felt uneasy around him; he was always awkward whenever she visited the Weathervane.

Enid and Évangéline got into the car after Wednesday, seeing their driver. "Wait, he's our Uber driver?" Enid asked, surprised.

"Uber driver?" Tyler glanced back at Enid and Évangéline before looking at Wednesday. "I thought we were going on a date?"

"I thought this was a girls' night out," Enid protested from the back seat.

"There's been a change of plans," Wednesday said without looking at them.

"What's up with the matching hoodie-scarf things?" Tyler asked, sparing Évangéline a curious glance.

"Don't ask," Wednesday cut him off. "Just drive."
