Acting out our old parts, let's perform our favorite little scene
I think I can fake it if you can
Carried Away - Passion Pit
Rafe blinks, everything else is still. "I'm sorry—what?!"
Kiara's eyes grow wide in guilt, "I didn't know how to tell them about this, if it would make things awkward so I wanted it to be a surprise."
"You didn't want things to be awkward?"
They hear the door open and some voices filter out, Rafe sinks into his seat and Kiara tries to peek over his seat to see who's walking out.
"It'll all be okay Rafe! Sarah told me herself that she wants to see you—"
"What about everyone else Kiara?" Rafe snarls, "We didn't leave on the best note."
Kiara tries to busy her hands with the car keys, "I was hoping—"
"You were hoping?! God this is a mistake, get out." Rafe tries to reach for the keys, "I'm leaving. This was a horrible idea."
"If you give me like two seconds I can run in and tell her," Kiara bargains.
"And what? I'm sitting here with a prize bow on my head for Sarah?" Rafe aggressively shrugs the blanket Kiara placed on him off and holds it up to the window as a shield to hide.
"No—"
"It's one thing when they're aware I'm coming and were prepared for it, but this is an ambush!"
He's trying his best to recline his seat as far back as it'll go but is exasperated when the carry-on luggage in the back seat doesn't let him back any farther. Kiara nervously chews on her lip knowing that she fucked up.
"You said that she was picking us up from the airport," Rafe says, "Who did she think she was picking up?"
Kiara cautiously says, "Some guy I met in London. But it's fine because I told her about him and basically gave a rundown of you and your personality, she thinks you're perfect!"
Rafe groans and hits his head on the headrest, "Get your stuff Kiara, I think there's a flight back to London at nine tonight I can make."
"No Rafe! We didn't come all this way to quit now." She pulls back the keys from him.
"We are not quitting," Rafe narrows his eyes, "I'm leaving because you're a dirty little liar."
"No, you're not," She narrows her eyes back at him. "You made me a promise and I'm not going to be left with the short stack, I'm doing my part, so you do yours."
He grits his teeth, "Get your things Kiara and get out of the car."
She stares back at him and clicks on her seatbelt again. "No."
"Kie?" There's a tap on her window and she jumps up in shock. Rafe pulls the blanket down from covering the window and throws himself under it, covering his face completely.
Kiara turns and sees Pope beaming at her, one arm resting on the top of the car as he leans down to laugh at her surprise. "Pope! Hey!"
"What are you doing out here?" She rolls down her window to hear him, "Did you just arrive?"
"Yes," she clears her throat. "We just arrived."
Pope then takes a look inside the car and sees Rafe's figure mummified by the blanket and gasps, "Oh my god is that him? Your secret London love affair?"
