Part of why Dream was able to have that dream was because he was This Beginning's "ultimate" creation- something he put everything into. Something meant to be akin to perfection. Its Champion.
Long ago, Existence created someone like this.
Like Existence, it's Champion could never die, living on and on eternally. He existed beyond worlds that would rise and fall with The Beginning, sculpting them in his image. Every now and again, The End would come to swallow up that world, but Existence remained and so did it's ultimate creation.
You know him as Philza. And that is how he knew himself, immortal but not a god, he would not perish in any capacity when faced with one of the three deities, so Existence told him his chosen name.
And it is because of this that he was able to fall in love with The End. The End presided over anything that ended, which was mostly dead and broken things. Philza was not as strong as his creator, and so he stayed broken a bit longer, giving him and The End time to fall in love. Of course, the end of a universe didn't happen everyday and so it was very rarely that they had a chance to meet.
It was for this reason that The End made its champion. The End called it The Blade, a being of ultimate destruction incapable of being felled in combat, when sent out it would end a universe before Philza was reborn, giving the two more time together.
Existence was jealous of its creation, but it could not kill him anymore than it could kill himself- both were cursed with infinite existence.
Philza met The Blade every now and again, though he decided to start calling him Technoblade, a tribute to The End's name, but a but more name-ly, in his opinion.
(The End decided if they ever had a child, Existence was naming it.)
(Existence did not want to think about naming the child of his desire and his creation.)
Existence and The End were ever lasting, and though Beginnings were always beginning anew, deities over the course of infinitely many eons tended to adapt a kind of identity like what many of the mortals had. Existence found it preferred being more masculine, while The End leaned towards femininity. Existence appeared as a tall man and wore a neon green "hoodie", tight leather pants, and a pale ceramic mask with slashes over its eyes and a wide smile carved onto the lower half. The End appeared as a massive woman wearing a long black dress, the top tight and the bottom flowy in a way that made it impossible to tell where the dress stopped and her void began. She wore long black gloves, and a dark sunhat. She liked doing her makeup, black lips and heavy eyeliner. The Beginning of the universe of Dream and George had yet to come up with a real identity, though it did think Existence had a rather cool color palette.
It copied Existence's design, before slowly making itself shorter. And then, it gave itself little dots as eyes on it's mask and closed the smile. It began leaning towards femininity and gave itself a long dirty blonde ponytail. It became her.
Philza and The End did end up having a child, a baby boy with dark brown hair and deep eyes that reflected the fruits The Beginning had left in its jungles- cocoa beans.
The End showed her beloved child to Existence the next time they got a moment to meet, and asked for his opinion on a name.
Existence said he would like to watch another universe pass and then tell The End the name he came up with based on who he saw.
Existence was distraught, heartbroken, and sad. But more than any of that, he was angry. He was angry at the child for existing, at his champion for siring it. He did not give the boy the name of heroes. He gave it the name of a tyrant who was hated by all his subjects. He gave the boy child the name of a man who was indisputably better off dead. He named the child Ozymandias.
He forgot, in his quest to find a man so despicable it would satisfy him, that Ozymandias was a king. That though the things he did were terrible, above that they were great.
And so Ozymandias, with blood of both Existence and The End was born.
But Ozymandias was a long name, so Philza began to call him Will as The End called him Phil. The End liked this idea, but also wanted to add something to the end like Philza, though she didn't like the sound of Willza.
She settled on Wilbur.
And so Wilbur was made part of the cast, though in this story his birth name was Ozymandias.
The Beginning was lonely. This loneliness was not new or unheard of, but it was more pronounced as of late since the two players (for what were they but players in The Beginning's favorite game?) began to bond, and their connection grew deeper and deeper. The Beginning had become aware of Existence and The End in a way she was not at her birth, and so The Beginning decided to begin attempting to bother Existence into a conversation. Maybe it was just because she was her stark opposite, but The Beginning did not feel at all inclined to get to know The End, the harbinger of destruction.
The Beginning asked what Existence's name was, to which Existence replied, "Aren't you a foolish child. I am Existence."
"But that's your job. What's your name?" she pestered.
Existence thought for a moment, for an answer to satisfy The Beginning. He thought of his mask. "Then, I am XD."
The constant smile on her mask turned to a frown as she conveyed her apparent displeasure. "That's too short for a name, isn't it? Both my players have longer names."
If Existence had eyes behind his mask, he would have rolled them in annoyance. He quickly searched the universe to find The Beginnings world and her players. He found a boy, no older than fourteen chasing a man of a similar age through a forest, smiling as he yelled, "OH DREEEEAAAAM!"
"Fine then, Dream XD."
The Beginning's smile returned, "Well then, Dream XD, I'll be Drista! It's Dream from Dream XD and sister, but a little more namey!"
...
...
...
Exis-... Dream XD felt warm.
It was not long after that The End began referring to herself as Kristin.
