Inferno (A Terraria Calamity Story)

Deadly Foe (part 1)

The sandstorm stirs, blinding our vision. The ground shakes with immense force. The giant husk of a worm digs through the sand. It jumps out of the sand trying to eat us, before landing into the sand. I draw my bow to shoot at it. As it resurfaced, It spits out what looks like hundreds of sand spikes. Ren and I barely avoid the spikes, and I am still unable to land a hit on the worm. I finally hit it as it resurfaced. The worm tries to charge in, I dodge it but get caught by the spikes, along its side. It's spikes cut into me like a saw, sending pain through my side. I quickly get away from the giant worm, and grab a healing potion. As if the worm knows what I'm doing, it charges at me and grabs ahold of me. I lose my grip of the healing potion and grab the edge of the worms mouth. Ren shouts in my direction. "Hurry get out of there, it's about to burrow." The worm begins diving back into the ground. I jump out of its jaw and tumble away from where it lands before grabbing my sword and inflicting a deep wound across the side of its ridged husk like exoskeleton. It roars in pain before jumping into the air and charging towards us. I dodge, and inflict another deep cut across it. I finally grab another healing potion, and drink it, healing the deep scratches caused by the spikes. The giant resurfaced from the sand, and begins surrounding us spinning around in the sand. It begins shooting off the spikes off it's body and towards us. Ren and I struggle to dodge the spikes, getting hit a few times. The giant burrows back into the ground and quickly resurfaced launching more sand spikes into the air. I block the spikes with my sword and Ren dodges while throwing his chakram towards the giant worm. The sandstorm strengthens, making it hard to see anything around us. The giant worm sneaks up on Ren, and bites down on him. He struggles to get free and finally uses his chakram to cut himself out. As he lands on the ground, he tosses me a pinkish potion and drinks another one he had. As I drink it, I feel my strength regenerating, and charge toward the giant worm. It begins launching hundreds of spikes in our direction. There are too many spikes to dodge, and they shred through my and Rens skin. I manage to shoot the giant worn, causing it to stop spewing spikes. It burrows into the ground and charges towards Ren. I quickly look for something to hit it away. Ren is still to weak to move and I can't find anything. I make a quick decision and pull out a long tin rod, with topaz lining the end of it. "Please work!" I shout while furiously pointing the staff in the giant worms direction. As I hold it up, I feel something from my body transfer into the staff. A burst of light shoots out towards the giant worm stopping it in place. The worm burrows down into the ground. I wait for it to resurface, and Ren finally finds the strength to move, getting up and using a healing potion. "Is it gone?" Ren asks. "I think" so I reply. The sand storm slowly fades away revealing the vast desert, and the many pits left by the giant worm. As we start leaving we feel the ground shake more violently than ever.
