Loud music blared in the club, the dance floor filled with smiles, smudged makeups, giggles and laughters. That was how most week-nights in clubs like these were in Mumbai. Amidst all this hustle and bustle the bar counter was occupied by only two people, both sitting a few chairs away from each other.

One of the two was a guy, about 25 years old. Lean and sporting a light stubble, hair slightly longer than usual and left messy but somehow complimenting the casual look that the man sported, he had a glass of Negroni in front of him which was half empty. Shaurya, an IT professional who had moved to Mumbai a few months ago after switching jobs, sat there alone all the while looking at the glass in front of him and taking deep breaths in between his sips.

The expression on his face was a sombre one, reflecting his state of mind. He did not bat an eyelash to anything that was happening around him except for one person, the woman seated a few chairs away from him at the bar counter. In between a few sips, he'd look at her and see her eyeing him, then shy away and look in the opposite direction.

After a few such instances, Shaurya finally mustered the courage to finish his drink and get up from his chair. After fidgeting with his shirt for a few seconds, he walked close to the object of his admiration, only to feel her hand tug at his shirt hem and pull it out from under his pants. "You look better this way".

Her voice was soothing to his ears and it was difficult for Shaurya to stop himself from not feeling flustered but he gave a small smile. "Hi, I am Shaurya." he somehow muttered and shook her hand as she offered it to him, then sat next to her after she gestured for him to do so. Shaurya had some liquid courage in him and yet he felt nervous even though he shouldn't have. Turning towards her, he found it difficult to utter the words he was planning on saying and he could see her reveling in that moment. "Since you took your damn time to muster the courage and come up to me, I suppose I will say hi Shaurya I am Alina, the 'model' that our mutual friend must have mentioned to you."

Shaurya nodded and finally opened his mouth "I-I should say I am sorry. I can understand I probably did not give off a good impression. I do have some reasons because of which I feel this under-confident but that was not my intention." Even before he could finish, he felt Alina's lips on his own and for a few seconds everything was still around him or so he thought.

"I suppose this should help a little, but don't expect that after giving you this much leeway I won't expect you to blow my mind away with who you are or else I will have to stop my communication with 'our' mutual friend for giving misleading information." she added along with the kiss and then ran her fingernail along the rim of the glass of her drink.

Shaurya took a few seconds to digest whatever happened and then cleared his throat "Um yeah, so where was I?" but even before he could complete his sentence he saw Alina sigh. "You know, I was under the impression that you are different or atleast that is what 'our' mutual friend told me. Furthermore, I never really accept such requests but since he spoke so highly of you I thought to myself to give it a try. But as usual, with pretty much 90% of the men I come across, you also are just one flustered fan more or less."

It was not what she spoke that triggered Shaurya more but the way she put forth those words, in a very sarcastic tone, that made him look straight in her eyes. "I suppose it is my fault, but you know you run your mouth a little more than I expected you would. I'd rather put it to better use than listen to the blabber that's coming out of it right now." he spoke, to which Alina turned her body a little towards his side and gave a hint of a smile. "Hit a nerve didn't I? Well atleast I got you out of your nervous phase. Now how long before you can get me out of these?"

Her words were as soft as ever, but she still had a sarcastic undertone to her voice while she was pointing to her clothes as she muttered those words. Shaurya could tell she was least interested in talking or even getting to know anything about him. For her this was just a game and he was her prey, but Shaurya wasn't one to fall for her this way. He did not wish to be her night's entertainment. It was supposed to be the other way around, or atleast that is what he had thought of initially.

About an hour later, night lights at the topmost suite in JW Marriott lit up, only to be turned off within a few seconds. The curtains parted to the sides, the city lights shimmering underneath as the city that never sleeps continued it's progress forward. The hall was quiet but all of a sudden a dark silhouette pushed another against the glass panes behind the curtains with a thud.

"Is that all you can do?~"

"Oh no no no....I am just getting started~"
