██"I thought the Château looked bad," JJ said, raising a brow at the state of the motel. Gwen looked up on instinct, curling her lip in disgust at the sight. It looked like a wreck, more or less.

"Motel or Meth Lab?" Kie asked, "Meth lab, for sure." Gwen hummed, crossing her legs and grinning. She spared a look at John B playing with the Motel Key. He caught her eye and she snapped her head back to the motel, ignoring the creeping heat up her neck.

"Doesn't look like a place someone with a Grady—White would stay." The boy muttered. This time Gwen had an excuse to stare.

Him and JJ stood up and stepped off the boat. "Wish us luck," Gwen forced a smile, pushing down the worries in the pit of her stomach. She gave a thumbs up to both of the boys and watched them walk off.

Gwen sat on the edge of the boat, turning to stare at Kie and Pope, who stared back with a knowing look.

"What?" Pope was quick to shake his head and Kiara to shrug her shoulders, "Nothing... Nothing at all." Gwen raised her eyebrows, clearly not catching on, yet grasped her book on the seat and began to open to marked page.

"Biggest pet peeve?" Pope asked Kie, while Gwen leant her head on his shoulder, too focused on her book.

"Easy," She began, "Giving one percent to the environment." Gwen smiled softly at her words. She always admired Kiara for her love for nature.

Pope shifted, making Gwen groan uncomfortably. "What's wrong with that?" He asked, ignoring the girl on his shoulder. "We only have one Earth, Pope," Kie remarked.

"Only one." Gwen repeated.

"We should be giving it ten percent, minimum!" The curly haired girl continued.

"Minimum!" Pope shoved her off, annoyed. She winced a little, but soon broke out into a toothy smile.

Gwen turned to Kiara, "That's not fiscally sound." Kie rolled her eyes, placing her hands in her lap and staring into her, trying to be intimidating.

"Neither is destroying the planet we have to live on!" She argued back.

"Hey, hey, cops!" Pope leapt up, staring at the Motel, where two cops talked with a man. Gwen and Kiara followed suite, swiftly. "Shit!" Gwen huffed, she tapped Kiara's pocket, where her phone lay.

"Call them!" She whisper—yelled.

Kie shook her head with a frown, etched with worry, "I can't. Towers are down," Gwen's shoulders slumped, and so did Pope's.

"If I lose my Merit Scholarship, I'm gonna kill someone," Pope pointed at the two worried girls. He had sweat tearing down his face, above his brow bone.

"Now is not the time to worry about your Scholarship, Pope!" Gwen fired, stepping out of the boat to get a closer look at the police.

Kiara ran a hand through her hair, "M—Maybe, they're not going up. Maybe—" Gwen put a finger to her lips, "Kie, be quiet."

The girl whispered between Gwen's lips, "They're going up." Gwen felt a shiver go down her spine, and she turned around, wide—eyed.

"Do something, do something!"

"Do what?" Pope yelled back.

"Anything!" Kiara and Gwen yelled in unison.

Pope reached down and grabbed a small pebble. He drew his arm back and threw. To be fair, the throw looked like it had a bigger outcome. Nonetheless, time was ticking, and Gwen wasn't going to wait around.

"I was on the math team—!"

Gwen picked up a slightly larger pebble, and threw it at the window. It landed with a big bang, and soon she saw a familiar eye through the blinds. The three of them waved their arms frantically and mouthed 'cops.' They seemed to get the memo, as Gwen saw the window unlock as the trio sprinted back to the boat.

Her and Pope pretended to read the book together, and Kie rested her head on her palm, screwing her eyes shut.

Gwen held her breath, a clash occurred. Pope noticed she was stressed, and squeezed her arm, trying to comfort her.

After a few silent moments, the girl had the urge to look back to check if they were okay, but they didn't know if the coast was clear, so she decided against it.

"Could've warned us sooner," JJ said, sitting down on the edge of the boat. "We would have, but Pope was on the Math Team." Gwen giggled, covering her mouth to hide it.

"The cops took everything like it was a crime scene," John B broke the slightly uncomfortable silence. Gwen hummed and nodded her head, "Well—Did you find anything?" She asked, looking over to JJ.

"Did we find anything? No—No. I don't think so," He pulled a gun and some cash from his pockets, holding them up with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Gwen gasped, turning to face John B, who shrugged. "You let him take it?!" She shrieked, over Kie and Pope who were scolding JJ.

"I'm gonna lose my Merit Scholarship..." Pope hid his face in his hands, that shook uncontrollably.

"At least you have us, right?"

"I'm living the nightmare." Gwen scoffed, holding up an empty beer bottle, "Amen."
