ʀᴇᴀʟ - The confusion over you and Alhaitham's relationship starts to set in

[ -~*+*~- ]

Nothing felt real when she was with him.

That statement could be seen as either positive or negative, but it depended on mindset. On this front, [] didn't know how to feel.

Alhaitham had always been a hard man to get along with and his motives were always ambiguous. The uncertainty was infuriating, but it stirred her.

Twirling her pencil on her hand, she scanned over the book before her only to realize she wasn't paying attention to it. Just before the moment she was planning to stand up, the library door opening caught her by surprise and she cast a glance to it by instinct.

She had already stood from her seat when she realized it was the scribe she had locked eyes with. Ducking into an aisle between the shelves of books, she felt butterflies in her stomach. The library was nothing compared to the House of Daena, so it would be easy to catch up to her.

To be honest, she had no idea why he was so interested by her. It seemed random and outright absurd, when she was a Spantamad scholar the sages deemed as mediocre. They'd known each other for awhile, yes, but this felt like it came out of nowhere.

Whether it was passing glances in the corridors or cornering her after everyone's left, kissing her and playing with her hair and hips, she felt no need to stop it. But it still felt strange having these relations with him. Hence why she's trying to hide in the aisles.

She hears the door close and everything is silent. Peering through the shelves, she finds him nowhere and breathes out a quiet sigh of relief. [—] reaches up and sets the book back into its place before searching for another.

A book on a higher shelf caught her attention shortly after and she went to grab it, but found herself just a smidge too short. Her hand could only reach to the tops of the books on the shelf below, causing her to grumble in annoyance.

But as she went on her tiptoes and tried again, a hand reached the book before her and slid it out of place. Dropping down from her tiptoes, she steps back the slightest bit and knocks into something. The book is being held in front of her, and the half-glove gave away the owner of the hand.

"Scribe Alhaitham." She sighed out, gripping onto the book and waiting for him to let go.

"[—]. studying, I presume?"

Her eyes shift away from him as she half-turns his way,  refusing to make eye contact. In complete honesty, she had been here to try to find answers on how things like this work. 'This' being relationships, of course.

"Sure..." She wishes for him to let go of the book so he wouldn't see what it was, but the opposite becomes true. What kind of cursed genie allowed that?

"I didn't know Spantamad covered this kind of subject." She could hear the slight amusement in his voice.

She rushed to find an excuse, and managed to speak it with no outward faltering. "They don't. but I wanted to see if emotions can affect a person's elemental power."

"Really?" He quirked a brow while she turned fully, keeping her attention on the book. "Like a vision user?"

She casts a glance at his dendro vision before nodding, keeping up a collected front. Though, the position was short-lived. Her back was pressed against the bookshelf and he leaned down the slightest bit needed to reach her eye level, eyes piercing through her.

"We could test it out, if you want."

[—] knew what was coming, prompting her to brace herself. Lips forcefully met with hers and a hand made its way to her back, pulling her in. The other hand clasped around her neck, lightly squeezing as they came up for air. She gasped for breath and tried to speak, but was cut off when his lips crashed onto hers once more.

"Alhaitham—" He kissed her again, preventing her words before moving to kiss her neck.

"The title isn't necessary. We're alone." He sucked on her skin, a dark patch blooming from the contact. His hands roamed all over, eventually stopping at her hand and locking his fingers with hers against the shelf.

"Haitham..." She trailed off when another hickey was planted on her collar bone. He hummed in response, the vibration sending butterflies parading around her stomach.

"Say it again."

"But..." She didn't know whether to comply at first, but another small nip at the base of her neck changed her mind. "Haitham, what if someone sees?" The words came out as a whisper, hushed as a result of his assault on her neck.

The man squeezed her hip, burying his face in her shoulder. "What do you think the purpose of these hickeys are?"

She set her free hand on his chest, clenching the fabric as the scribe sucked yet another mark on her shoulder. After which, he finally went back to her face and his hand moved from her neck to her cheek.

[—] ultimately decided to return the favor, leaning in and sucking a dark hickey on his neck, where everyone would see. He complied to the action, but was tense while she did it. His eyes widened, locking with hers in question of it. She only smiled in response, to which he tucked her hair behind her ear.

"You'd better not try to hide it," She set a finger on his chest. "You got yourself into this, so it's only fair you have marks, too."

His hand wrapped around her wrist, and she opened her palm to rest fully on his chest. His face carried a light, almost unnoticeable dusting of red that she could tell he willed to go away.

"Fine, then."

"Uh, []?" Dehya's concerned tone caught the scholar off guard, pulling her attention away from her book.

"Yeah?"

Her eyes were glued to her, though the lack of eye contact unnerved her. The mercenary finally locked eyes with her, raising a brow. "Did you get into a fight or something?"

When there was no response, she expanded on the question. "You have bruises on your neck."

Embarrassment set over her, causing her whole body to tingle. "Uh, no, I just... I just had a little slip up a few days ago, that's all." She looked away from her friend, hoping she hadn't seen the blush rising to her face. She thought she had them hidden decently...

Nothing too crazy had happened, but Alhaitham seemed to insist on keeping her.
