I See You

Five Days Later
It had taken five days before either Kat or Laura stirred. Laura was the first to move, Derek and Jamie moving to her side with a whine. Talia rose from her chair as Laura whined and coughed, eyes slowly opening to a squint. "Mma?" She croaked out and Talia sighed in relief. "Oh my sweet child. You're alright." Lorenzo ran his fingers through his daughter's hair, smiling down at her. "K-Kat?" Laura mumbled.

In another room, Kat was lying in bed, face and ears cleaned of the blood, wearing a simple white nightgown. Miec's leg shook as he kept his eyes on her. Claudia and John sat on either side of her, waiting like they always did. Kat had gotten some color back after the first day of being at the cabin but she had yet to wake which worried the small family. Then there was a finger twitch. "Kat?" Miec whispered, rising slowly. There was a moan and suddenly the girl's eyes started to open. Claudia immediately took her daughter's hand, pressing it to her cheek while John placed a hand in her hair.

"Oh my little Zyna, you're awake." Claudia sobbed out and Miec walked over, smiling softly. Kat smiled back before tears fell from her eyes and she started to sob, small whines leaving her throat. "Oh honey.." John whispered. Miec shoved his face in his sister's neck, nuzzling her. Kat cried and cried, finally letting out how afraid she was, how tired and how worried she was for Laura. She needed Laura. She needed her mate.

The two seemed inconsolable alone all day so Laura was helped to Kat's room, immediately climbing into the bed with her mate. Any hope of her coming out of this without her wolf leading was slim until..."mate." Left Kat's lips, tears in her eyes and Laura was there, wrapping her arms around Kat, drawing the girl in. Kat closed her eyes, letting some tears fall. Miec was being held by Derek around the waist, the two leaving the room without either of their parents knowing.

He couldn't breathe. He tried to suck in air but it felt like it wasn't enough. He clung desperately to the arms around his waist, whimpering. He pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes but that didn't seem to stop the tears from appearing. "She's okay. She's alive." Miec could hear almost clear but once the tears flowed, so came the sobs and her just cried, feeling Derek turn him into his chest, Miec clinging to the grey Henley. He couldn't tell if these were tears of joy, relief or panic but it came out all the same. He didn't speak a word, he just cried until he couldn't anymore and Derek was there to hold him the entire time.

Once Miec had calmed down, the pair looked up to see Claudia and John exiting the room. Miec broke from Derek's hold and rose quickly, pulling nervously at his fingers. "S-so?" He looked at his parents who smiled softly at him. Claudia was the first to speak. "She's going to be fine." Derek rose when he heard Miec's heart hitch. "Going? So she's not fine?" Miec asked and John spoke up when Claudia looked away in tears. "Talia spoke with Deaton and he thinks that Kat expelled too much power beyond what he was teaching. She's lucky to have revived from it but if she does it again...it could kill her." Miec gasped, stumbling back right into Derek's arms.

"Ever?" He finally choked out and there was nothing but silence which Miec got his answer from. He started to tear up all over again as Talia exited the room and into the hall, shutting the door softly. "Laura was able to get her to finally get some rest." She said after a minute. Miec sniffled and removed Derek's arms from around his waist. "Mieczyslaw-" Derek started but Miec just tore down the stairs and out the front door, shutting it behind him. Derek looked to his mother, conflicted but Talia just nodded her head. "Go on. I understand his anger and it's alright." With that, Derek tore down the stairs and out the door.

"Come; let's let the two rest. Perhaps we can come up with a plan about her Spark." Talia suggested and the two Stilinski's followed her. Days would past where Miec could barely be in Talia's presence and if it was a required pack meeting, Derek always kept a hand on his lap. One day, Derek and Miec were on patrol in the Preserve when Derek broke the silence. "Can we talk?" Miec snorted. "Isn't that what we're doing?" Derek rolled his eyes. "Yes but it's been days and you still won't tell me how you're feeling. I ask, you give me a subpar answer. Just talk to me." They paused and Miec sighed, fisting and un-fisting his hands. "I just don't get it. How everyone can just blow past this like it's not a big deal."

"What? What's the problem?" Derek pushed and Miec yelled, doe brown eyes turning molten gold. "EVERYONE! She saved our lives, she literally fought a flood of fire and banished the Argents to who gives a fuck where and we're just gonna agree that she should not use her powers?! Why does everyone get to decide that?!" He turned and punched a hole into a tree, growling. Derek just stood back and watched. He did admit that it was weird that everyone was just passive about it. Even his mother was acting strange and usually she was the one who said that if a were was granted an extra gift, they should embrace it.

"What if they didn't?" Derek asked and fought not to flinch when Miec turned to face him. "What do you mean?" Derek moved closer, hands in his jacket pockets. "You've known my mother for years now. Why would she be passive about a werefox with the powers of a Spark? Especially a Spark that just saved her entire pack?" Derek could see the dots connect in Miec's eyes and when the teen looked up in shock, the shock turned to anger. "Oh I knew that bald son of a bitch was holding back but this?!" Rage filled Miec's bones and he started to walk down another path which Derek followed immediately. "Miec, where are you going?"

But he got no answer as they came upon Deaton's veterinary practice, Miec pausing when he saw a very familiar bike and smelt the scent of an Argent. His nostrils flared as his hands fisted tightly. He was starting to show signs of a werefox about to go off and Derek knew that if he didn't pull Miec back now, there would be a world of trouble for both of them. He placed a hand on Miec's shoulder, ignoring the short snarling hiss, and pulled his mate back. "Mieczyslaw Lucerys Stilinski, don't do this.  We can't rush in there without a plan and we definitely can't just confront Deaton and whoever else is in there without proof."

Miec hissed, eyes shining but Derek just pulled them back and turned Miec to face him, holding onto his shoulders. "Baby, come on." Derek pleaded and after a minute, gold turned to brown and fangs turned to normal canine teeth. "You with me?" Derek asked and got a small nod so he continued. "Okay, how about we do this? Let's go home and see if Kat can detect maybe a rune or something magical put on the pack?" Another nod and Derek led the way home. The two entered the cabin house, walking upstairs and to Kat's room where she and Laura were watching a movie.

One look and the younger Stilinski was up and hugging the eldest tightly. Miec clung tight to his sister, weaving a hand through the back of her hair while the other wrapped around her back. "What happened? What's wrong?" Kat asked in a frantic tone and Miec pulled back as Derek chose to speak up. "We think that..Deaton may have used magic to get Mom and everyone to agree that you shouldn't use your powers." The room was silent before Kat spoke. "I had a strange feeling for days about it. What do you need?" Miec looked at her with shock and a bit of awe. "I can't believe my sister has magic." Kat smirked and picked a leftover stick from his shirt. "Get used to it. Now, come on."
