Weeks go by with Jake typing away his thoughts into his book, just focusing on the book without any exciting or new activities outside of his busy routine he mixes himself in. He is like a lifeless zombie who only has one thing in his mind and screw everything else. At school, he only performs with the bare minimum where he just doodles about possible plot lines he might be able to use down the road.

"Pst, hey", Beckett whispers with her elbow bumping Jake's waist. "What's wrong with you? I gave you my number and you haven't said a thing for weeks." She keeps her eyes to the front as to avoid getting caught by the teacher.

"Huh, what?" He replies with a slightly higher voice, turning his head towards her.

"HEY!! NO TALKING. PAY ATTENTION TO THE LECTURE." The teacher yells at the back of the class.

"Shh... Meet me here, not up there", whispers Beckett with her hand gesturing for lower volume. "Sometimes you can be so random, god..."

"What's wrong, anyway? You miss me or something?" he asks with a teasing tone.

Suddenly a small chalk flies across the class and hits Jake in the head. "HEY!! I TOLD YOU NO TALKING IN THE CLASS." It was the teacher throwing the chalk. "As I was saying, you guys need to pay attention to these materials because there is a high chance that these might come out in the upcoming exam."

Beckett's shocked face turns into a joyful one with a big smile on her face. She laughs silently as she looks at the white powder on Jake's seemingly big forehead.

"Oh, just shut up, you." Jake whispers as he wipes his forehead and picks up the thrown chalk off the floor. They went on with the class without any more chatting with each other.

ring ring

The school bell rings, indicating that it is break time. Jake tries to approach Beckett to continue their conversation but only to be denied by her usual lackeys. He still has the opportunity to approach her but he is not the type to attract unnecessary attention towards himself. He rather just waits for the opportune moment to talk with her privately. She noticed him trying to approach her. She tried to wave at him but he immediately walked out of the door.

"So, what's up with you and Jake? I've seen you guys together a lot lately", asks one of her lackeys.

Beckett looks genuinely surprised by the question. "What do you mean? No, I haven't." She sounds flustered. She cannot have people know that they have spent some time together. She wants people to know that Jake is head over heels for her without finding out the behind the scenes efforts. "I saw you with him one time on the roof. I think it was during the school festival", says the lackey. She keeps denying all the claims by convincing them that it is completely out of character for her to be doing these things. "I guess that makes sense. There's no way you would want to spend your precious time with that nobody, anyway right?" the lackey says with a condescending tone. "Hey, that's not nice. He has a name and you shouldn't judge someone before getting to know them personally." Beckett sounds somewhat distraught.

The conversation goes on until the recess is over and the new course starts.

Jake approaches Beckett and gives her a nervous look on his face. "So, I have a favor to ask if you don't mind. Well, I know we only have my book to meet up and all but do you mind helping me with my studies? I'm a bit worried about the exam." He asks with a worried look on his face as if he is afraid of the answer she might give.

"Fine, fine. I guess it can't be helped. I'm always needed", she replies with a laugh.

"Umm, is it okay to do it at your place again? I don't really like doing stuff at my place", he replies with a nervous look on his face.

"Why?" she asks with a curious look.

He gives her a serious look. "Nothing big. Just some personal stuff." It is as if he is trying to close the topic on the settings of the activity. She tries to pry a bit more on the matter. She leans a bit towards him, trying to find the hidden truth. Annoyed by the constant badgering, Jake unintentionally raises his voice in hopes that she stops her quest in prying more about his life. Upon hearing this, she goes back to her seat and clears her throat. "No, no, I didn't mean to yell at you or anything, just that I prefer doing things outside of my house. Sorry for giving you that tone." He immediately looks full of guilt and regret. Jake presses his lips to hold the embarrassment he feels and closes his eyes.

Suddenly, the whole class stands up. The next course has started and the teacher just walked in. They both follow the class and proceed with the rest of the courses that day.
