When Gon is happy, he gives the soda tabs to Killua. He's been doing this as long as Killua can remember, and he cherishes every single one, having them carefully put on a chain under his shirt, which Gon calls "his happiness." When he's not, he lets the tab slip through the opening in the can, swirling it around in the brown liquid, just like Gon swirls around in his sorrow. Usually, it only lasts a few seconds, before he quickly empties the can in search of the soda tab to give to Killua, but Killua doesn't mind when Gon can't get it out (and he never does.) Killua frowns when Gon lets his soda tab slip through the can opening this time though, as this is the fifth time he's done this in a week. One for each weekday.
"Whats up, Gon?" Killua asks hesitantly, and Gon furrows his brow.
"What do you mean?"
"Your soda tab fell."
Gon panics, and drinks his soda in one gulp, before trying to fish the soda tab out with his finger, and Killua chuckles. "You're going to cut your finger that way."
"But Killua! You need the soda tab, because if you don't, you wont know!"
"What? What are you talking about?"
"Aunt Mito said that if you like someone, you give them things! And you seemed happy when I gave you my soda tabs, so..."
Killua's face heated up, and he murmured. "I only like them because they came from you, Gon." he said softly, and Gon tilted his head. "So what you're saying is, if someone else gave you the soda thingies, you wouldn't like it?"
"It'd just be weird. I like it because I know you're doing it out of your heart and crap... Don't make me say such ridiculous things like that! It's embarrassing!"
"But Ki-llu- aaaa! I like hearing you say those things!"
Killua blushed even more red, and covered his face with the collar of his turtleneck. "G-gon-"
"And I really do like you, Killua!"
It seemed like the air was sucked from his lungs, because next thing he knew, Gon had his calloused, yet gentle, hands on either side of Killua's face, and lovingly pressed a soft kiss to Killua's lips. Killua stiffened, and when he got comfortable, Gon had moved away with a sheepish smile.
"Sorry. I really wanted to do that, though."
Killua stared at him with wide blue eyes before laughing, face red. "It was n-nice. And I, uh... likeyoutoo."
Killua said it quickly, and he felt Gon's arms around him, pulling him closer to Gon's chest, where it felt safe and warm. Gon pressed another kiss to Killua's hair, smiling peacefully. Killua groaned.
"What?"
"Bisky will never let me live this down."
Gon and Killua laughed, snuggled on the park bench, where they listened to the song the birds played and enjoyed the company and warmth of each other. Gon pressed something into his hand, and when Killua looked, he blushed and smiled. It was two soda tabs, glued together in the shape of a heart.
