Year 4

I woke up refreshed for the first time in months. Today is finally the day I get to board the train and go back to the only place I can stay without waking up at midnight with screams echoing in my mind.

Hogwarts.

As corny as it sounds, my friends are my only family. Draco, Blaise, and Harry are my only close friends. But they've always been there for me and I couldn't be more grateful.

However, Draco has been acting so distant and weird lately. He hasn't written to me once in the past months, and I keep pretending the hole in my stomach isn't slowly gnawing me raw.

He is the only one that knows about my family situation. The fact he didn't write to me during the worst summer hurt me more than I would like.

With my family cracking apart inches by inches, all I need is a shoulder to lean and cry on.

Yet whenever I turn around, it's the same dark void.

Shaking away the unnecessary thoughts, I tried to start off my ruined day with a slightly more positive mindset.

I put on some light makeup. Concealer to hide my eyebags, mascara to make my hazel eyes pop, and clear lip gloss to give a shine to my face. Done with makeup, I got started with my hair. Braiding two small braids that sat on top of the rest of my blonde hair.

Most importantly, I enchanted a spell that covered up the ugly scar going from my collarbone to my shoulder.

Laughing bitterly to myself as I thought of what caused the scar.

It's a story similar to Harry's.

The scar that never healed.

                                                                                 ----

I took a deep breath and pulled away from the comforting perfume of my mother.

She looks exhausted. Her eyebags are practically purple, her face wilted off of any beauty left.

If you looked deeper and probed closer, you could still see the silhouette of the beautiful woman before the curse fell upon her.

That was once there.

I glanced swiftly at the small scars and bruises that peppered her skin. Hiding away under layers of clothing, placed strategically so they are littered under the fabrics.

So this is what father has been up to.

Pursing my lips, I turned away and stepped through the brick wall that led to platform 9 and 3/4.

The train station was busy as usual, tearful parents watching their joyful children walk off to yet another year at Hogwarts.

The kids wouldn't treasure it, they even think of it as embarrassing how much their parents care about them.

I would give everything for my parents to stand here and hug me as I go off to another year.

I tried to think of the memories I've had at Hogwarts and that brought my dampened mood up a bit.

Letting an unfamiliar smile take over my face as I thought of my friends waiting for me on the train ride ahead.

A certain platinum blonde crossed my mind.
