I sat down in my homeroom class and started the work on the board.
Our class had pretty much every type of person.
The couple making out in the back, yeah awkward...
The preppy popular girls that sat in their desks twirling their hair and talking about who ever they could.
The jocks, eyeing the girls they thought were worthy of their attention.
The nerds typing equations into calculators to see who could find the easiest way to graph a function.
The wallflowers that sat there reading old books assigned by teachers and listening to music.
That's where I fell in. I was a wallflower but I hated the name.
We had our own group behind the scenes of the parties we got invited too.
Sure my combat boots and buttoned up T-shirts could be labeled hipster but a label was just a label.
You earned it and it became what everyone knew you were.
"Kids we have a student joining our homeroom, welcome Matt. You can sit over there behind Lydia."
I rolled my eyes and lifted my hand. "Uh, it's not Lydia, Ms. My name is LeahLynn."
"Whatever just sit behind her."
He dropped his bag off of his shoulder swiftly as he swung into the seat.
He had square glasses, a buttoned shirt up to the neck and he wore grey vans.
A true hipster at its finest.
He placed his phone on his desk not caring who saw what music he was playing.
I turned back around and plugged my ear buds in. I opened my music app and pressed shuffle, of course skipping a few songs before getting to a Cage The Elephant song. I nodded my head slowly as I checked the time.
Five minutes to first period.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and pulled out the bud.
"Yeah?"
"I saw you like Cage The Elephant. If you like them I could recommend a few songs."
"I didn't ask for your input." I said turning around and putting my homework in my binder.
I pressed pause and put my phone back in my bag.
I slung it over my shoulder and prepared for the bell.
"Hey, you don't need to be harsh I just thought if you had a love for music like I do you might want some new music." He held his hands up in a surrender like fashion.
"Sorry it's just, usually when people talk about music their teasing me." I said then quickly remarked, "never mind I'm fine, I'll check them out."
I was not about to make my life seem like a sob story to a guy I just met.
He laughed a small laugh then headed out the door as the bell rang.

When lunch rolled around I was relieved to find Lissa and Bree.
"I can't wait for summer oh my god this school year just drags on and on." Lissa said sitting down with her lunch tray.
That's another thing, the lunch.
It sucks. Like its not even food, it looks and tastes like literal trash and yet they say it's healthier.
