Chapter 10

Out of breath, Ben made eye contact with his best friend he missed so deeply. It has not been the same since their trip to her parents. The events that took place on the last night of their trip he assumed it was going to be some changes. To their relationship, but in the good way not the opposite. After few minutes of intense gazing Miranda broke eye contact and began scrolling on her computer bringing Ben back to reality.

"Dr. Torres, I have been looking everywhere for you I should have just started here from the jump. You're needed in OR 3 it's an emergency I was watching from the gallery." Ben said as he looked away from Miranda's direction. Sharing one more glance with Miranda, Callie rushed out of Miranda's lab and to OR 3.

"What was the emergency" Miranda asked over her shoulder when she felt him starring at her in silence. She practically heard Ben roll his eyes she knew he was about to snap.

"You can't be serious." Ben Huffed in disbelief this woman is something serious. she hasn't spoke to me in months and when she finally does she wants to ask me about a surgery emergency.

"Really Miranda! You...."

"Bennnn don't" Miranda started to whine and fuss but was cut off by Ben.

" NO MIRANDA YOU HAVE BEEN IGNORING ME YOUR BESTFRIEND FOR MONTHS WITHOUT EVEN THE SLITEST EXPLANTION ON WHY!"

" SO, THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS YOU WANT TO ASK ME ABOUT An EMERGENCY THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!" Ben expressed with frustration.

Leaving Miranda with a puzzled look she didn't know what to say or how to say it. She couldn't tell him the truth it would break everything they have built. She knew they weren't in the best place right now but if she told him the truth, they would never be able to fix them.

" Ben let's just not talk about this I know I have been a terrible best friend. But I have my reasons on why but that's not important. I'm sorry but can we just go back to the way it was Benjamin, I have missed you so much."

Miranda said as she turned around in her computer chair looking up at Benjamin who was just few inches away from her.

Ben took his right hand and ran it across his face taking a deep breath in before quickly exhaling it. " Miranda " Ben said as he searched the room for an extra stool so he could take a seat  and possibly get down to the reason on why his best friend has been avoiding him.

" Why did you leave me in that room by myself and why have you been ignoring me for months. Did I hurt you that night did I make you do something you didn't want to do?" Ben asked  Miranda as he scooted closer to her grabbing her hand.

Miranda looked down at their entwined hands and took a breath but quickly snapped her head up when he asked her if he had hurt her or made her do anything that she didn't want to do. she immediately went to shaking her head and squeezing his hand.

" Ben everything that took place that night I wanted it to you are an amazing man. You were amazing that night physical and mentally you made me feel so good and I absolutely loved it. I just"

Miranda paused looking from Ben's eyes to their entwined hands and inhaled. "We can't" Miranda said getting up and began to head to the door. Before she could reach it, Ben stalked over to her and swooped her up into an intense passionate kiss leaving Miranda to melt in his arms.

She never realized how low on oxygen she really was until Ben gave her some, she felt like she had been holding her breath her whole life because she has never felt this good. Pulling away Ben kept his hands cuffing her face as he stared into her eyes.

"Miranda, I love you and I know from what we just we shared I know you love me too you just don't kiss someone like that and not feel something for them." Miranda stared into the eyes of the man she loves and began to let tears fall down her face as she began to shake her head. "I'm sorry Benjamin I can't I just can't" Miranda said rushing out the lab with her hand on her chest.
