It all started on a cruel summer afternoon.

Summers for high school students revolved around part-time jobs, bicycles, and hanging out with friends. It revolved around laying lazily on the bed in front of the air conditioner or eating ice creams with the street cats. Learning a new activity or playing board games with their close ones. And if only Kim Taehyung could he would add courting an omega to the list too.

Every year since middle school, he would go on bicycle rides with his friends in the mornings. And would enjoy playing frisbee until the lazy afternoon arrived. Their small town was nestled between rolling hills, surrounded by lush forests and winding streams. The main street was lined with quaint, old-fashioned buildings, including general bookstores, coffee shops, and libraries.

Drenched in sweat, they would laugh or argue while walking to the opposite street of the flower park. It was a bookstore cafe. People would often sit there reading romance novels for which the place was famous for— they said the owner's son had the best taste in it.

Jimin, Taehyung's best friend, introduced him to the place about five years ago in the hopes that the alpha would no longer be engrossed in horror flicks and would not video call him in the middle of the night when frightened.

He urged his best friend to quit watching horror films by making him fall for romance. But did he anticipate that this would be the start of the latter's actual first romance?

The answer is No.

But did it happen? Yes.

Does Jimin regret bringing him here? Sometimes, when the guy looks overly whipped for the omega but otherwise, he likes to make fun of Taehyung for not courting the omega already. 

Almost five years later, even after watching and sometimes— stress on the word— sometimes talking—Taehyung still could not help but blush and feel his heart rate rush every time the omega would stride towards their table with drinks. At times, his friends would even hinder him and ask him to give some book suggestions deliberately to frustrate Taehyung, which he found ludicrous. I mean, why would it frustrate Taehyung? He is an Alpha male, eighteen years old and 5'8 tall with a dream of being a biker.

Nothing frustrates Taehyung. Literally nothing. Not even Jeon Jungkook, who was seated at the reception desk and peering at the computer screen in front of him with huge Bambi eyes on a display. Note the sarcasm. 

Taehyung, quite, literally finds himself creepy at times for staring at the guy from a distance and not being able to look away. He tries, okay. He really does. But as soon as he realizes that he is again stealing glances, he hides his face behind his palm. Sometimes the omega catches him too but doesn't say a word.

You are completely mistaken if you believe that his pals are not aware of this

"Taehyung, I have never even seen a coward like you," Jimin murmured taking a sip from his drink and staring at the guy who immediately averted his gaze from his crush. The others laughed and shook their heads in disbelief. They have had this conversation countless times by now. And is Taehyung actually a coward? Yes, he is.

None of them knew the frat boy of their high school could be such a nuisance when in love. "I have lost faith," Yoongi, reaching out to sip from Hoseok's beverage turned to face him before muttering, "I prefer this one. Let's trade."

However, Taehyung only lets out another frustrated sigh before furiously— read dramatically— slamming his fist against the wooden table, hurting his knuckles—ouch— "Fine. I'll begin courting him," He rapidly rubs his knuckles. "From tomorrow." He finishes his statement, but is he taken seriously by anyone? No. Because Taehyung has said the same thing a lot of times but every time he takes two steps forward, he takes four steps back.

Freaking coward, like Jimin, says.

But now that a certain omega had heard them while stifling a chuckle, things can be a bit different.
