Everything turns black…“Natsuo,” I hear a voice sweet as honey, crisp
as an apple on a nice fall day… I turn around…
“Mama?” I say tears welling up in my eyes, “I thought you were dead…” I
shudder.
“It’s time to wake up…” she says gently taping my forehead with two
fingers.“It’s just a dream…”
I sit up fast, breathing hard. I see Kai, and retired pro hero Natsui Kamandos
(a vine and praise hero).
“Hey, breathe, breathe. it's ok now.” Kai says holding my hand gently…I start
to calm down a little bit…
“What happened Natsuo?” Natsui Kamandos asks me…”Even the more
question, why were you unconscious on the ground in the dorms?”
“Nothing happened, I'm fine.” I lie trying not to let it show.
“We all know you’re lying, what happened?” Natsui says in a firm voice.
“She was probably just tired Natsui.” Kai cuts in
“Yeah, she probably is… ill leave you two to talk I'm going to go fill out
paperwork.” She says getting up and leaving the room…for a moment there
was silence… all that could be heard was breathing for that once magical
moment…
“Why did you lie?” Kai asks me firmly
“I didn't,” I say my heart beating fast like a huge hammer knocking on some
wood.
“Your lying again…” Kai says in a serious voice.
“Fine, maybe I am…” I say turning away…
“What really happened last night?” he asks
“I just fell that’s all,” I lie once again “No you didn’t,” he says
“How would you know?” I say in an annoyed tone
“My quirk is lie detector and decapitation.” Kai says “just tell me the truth
what happened?”
“Fine my Nightmares were keeping me awake and Bonnie probably hit me
in the back of the head when he jumpscared me, is that good enough for
you?”I say turning away and my arms crossed again.
“Why were you in front of the nurses' office then?” he asks
“I don't know,” I say confused
“Ok…then…” He says in a visibly confused tone. All of a sudden my ears
start ringing in a high pitch tone… I start to cover my ears then I hear a
whisper in my ear…
“Natsuo.”
I close my eyes tight, why does this happen to me?
“Hey, look at me Natsuo!” I hear Kai scream, I open my eyes slowly tears
welting on the surface of my cheeks…I feel this overwhelming pain in my
left leg. I look down to see my left leg bleeding a lot… the tears that I'm
holding all of a sudden flow like a river.
“Docter Docter come quick!” Kai yells “it's ok it's ok,” Kai says trying to
comfort me, in the best way possible. The doctor rushes in and rolls up my
pants leg a little bit just enough to see deep scratches on the side of my
leg. The doctor also has Kai leave the room, which makes anxiety worse
than before… she pulls some chips of metal out of the scratches up and
down my leg. Then wraps my leg in so many layers of bandages it's hard to
count.
“Hey, can you look at me, Sweetie?” The doctor asks me. I continue to look
away, wanting Kai back in the room. “Look at me please.”
“No, I want Kai back…I'm not looking till Kai is back in the room,” I say firmly
bursting into tears. She walks out of the room, and a moment later Kai is
back in the room with me holding my hand…
“I brought him now please look at me.” the doctor says gently…I look at her
as Kai holds my hand. She does the normal doctor stuff, checking my
heartbeat and other things… soon enough I’m back in the dorms as my Mama and Father question me for the hundredth time. They never believe
me anyway so it's not like it's new. After they leave, Kai looks at me and
smiles trying to cheer me up.
