A birthday surprise

It's October 31st, a Monday, the day before my birthday-I hate my
birthday…its on the day that people go trick or treating and when most
people die. My parents are normally on patrol on my birthday. However,
Kurama always tries to come to visit me on my birthday. Kurama is my
childhood male best friend. Though he is a villain - it was never a choice to
become a hero to him. His father and his papa are villains, his parents have
always been kinda harsh on him. If I would have thought about it my
parents would take it the wrong way if I was a villain, I can see why though.
Kai and I have figured out how to keep my nightmares at bay so I can sleep
at night. We bought a flashlight for each door and hang them shining into
the hallway with string. We also have an extra 5 packs of batteries just in
case one of my flashlights needs new ones. I also over time found out Kai
was 19 not actually my age which makes sense…Kai and I have a stronger
bond… I don’t really know how our bond got this strong but it's kinda like a
sibling's bond.
“Ring Ring Ring ring,” my alarm clock screams. I hit my alarm clock with my
left hand and all my dormmates groan except Kai.
“Why do you always set that stupid alarm clock? It woke me out of my
favorite dream,” Nolan grumbles.
“I suggest you get up unless you want to be late to class again,” Kai says
getting down from the top bunk of our bunk bed. Then helping me into my
wheelchair.
“Nah, we’re skipping today,” Shinki says rubbing his eyes and smirking.
“Of course you are!” I say irritated and tired.
“Calm down Natsuo, I’ll just tell Mr. Katski,” Kai says rubbing my head gently
and calming me down a bit. “We should get going,” Kai pushes my
wheelchair then stops outside the classroom, he kneels and fixes my hair out of my face. He whispers something under his breath but I couldn’t
exactly hear what he said.
“Kai, is something wrong?” I ask confused
“No nothing’s wrong,” Kai replies with a smile, “Happy birthday by the way.”
“Thank you…How did you know it was my birthday?” I ask confused
“My cousin told me,” he replies once again. Kai pushes me into the
classroom, everyones doing their normal whispering spree… only words I
could make out of all the whispering, something about a new dorm building
being built…My Mama and Papa Kats walk into the room with a smile and
hug me gently.
“Can anyone guess whose birthday it is today?” Mama Hendki asks the
class in a happy tone. Kai stays quiet to see if anyone else remembers from
the beginning of the year. But everything is quiet as if someone had said
something offensive…
“It’s Natsuo’s birthday today ta-da!” Kai says trying to cheer me up that no
one had remembered. All of a sudden, Izabelle and Akemi come in.
“Happy Birthday Natsuo!” Akemi says happily as can be, “do you think you
could meet me in the library after school today?”
“Mhm! “ I reply happy and relieved. Honestly, I was beginning to think no
one remembered.
“Nerd, can I take Natsuo for like half of the day?” Papa Katski asks my
Mama in a hopeful voice tone. Mama Hendki nods and turns to the class.
“Y'all are free to chat amongst yourselves since today’s a Monday and I'm
still planning tomorrow's lesson plans,” Mama Hendki says sitting back in
her chair with a pen and a notebook at hand. Papa takes hold of my
wheelchair taking me to a fashion store, for a while Papa Kats and I spent
time together but eventually, he takes me back to the classroom as I just
had finished eating my ice cream that I got from my uncle Henry’s desert
and treat store. At first, I thought that would be the climax of my day but
boy, was I wrong! It was the end of the day, I was told to head to the library
at the end of the day by my friend Akemi, her mother is Togatha. One of the
villains in the league. My birth papa is the lead of their pack but honestly, I
don’t like him I never will, I’d get it if he had a good reason but he doesn’t. But I still wonder why Akemi wanted me in the library I take a deep breath
before walking into the library it was dark as if it was the pitch black
darkness of midnight. All that can be heard is the small glow-in-the-dark
levitating clock in the corner of the room. Tick, Tock. Tick- suddenly the
lights turn on.
“Suprise!”
It's the League of villains and Akemi. I didn’t think they remembered but I
guess they did… there are 2 tables filled with presents and 2 huge presents
that look like they can fit one of those huge and tall bookshelves in them
and a table filled with my favorite type of pizza on one of those cool
glowing dancing levation trays… they even made me a lilac purple cake with
editable flowers on it that change color. But where is Kurama? At the time I
didn’t think much about it really but he’s not here. He’ll probably be here
soon, knowing Kurama. Always late, with his sweet voice and hilarious
excuses.
“This is amazing, you know you didn’t have to do this for me right?” I say
smiling gratefully.
“Let’s open presents first!” Elora the youngest person in the league says
excitedly.
“Ok Ok,” I say feeling grateful and happy.
“These are too heavy to carry, so why don't you do these big ones first?”
Shiumori says (the number 10 villain along with her brother Shiumoru).
“Ok.” I go forward to one of the huge and tall presents, I unravel the bow on
it and take off the wrapping paper. I start to giggle to the point my eyes
were tearing up. The first huge and tall present was Kurama in an orange
and red dress with my lipstick on. Kurama hops out of the box and dances
around.
“I’m so hot, wouldn’t you agree Natsuo?” he says striking a pose as I’m on
the floor laughing uncontrollably.
“Nope, not at all.” Shiumoru (Shiumori’s Twin brother) replies neutrally. After
I calm down, I open the next big box…it was an animatronic, the animatronic
that I wanted when I was little. I was kinda cautious about it at
first…because who knows if my birth father built it. “There’s a note on the side of it, you might wanna read it before you judge
it…” Kurama says pointing to the note hidden in the side of it…I pull it out
gently, with the hope that I wouldn’t rip it by accident. The note has the
original picture of the animatronic I wanted when I was little…the paper was
old and dusty…as if it has been already been 13 years since I’d seen this
picture… I blow the dust off the note and turn it to the back side…
“Hello, Natsuo…
You may not know me, but you’ll meet me soon enough. Though I know you
and have heard about you, you may not know anything about me… I built
this for you for your birthday. May this be victorious, At all means, try to
figure it out before I come but I promise after this. I hope you and I have a
strong bond. Though we are only related by blood and passion…I already
know your natural reaction. I’d hope that you have a good night, remember
to be careful with the fire that might light could be explosive...
From your mysterious guest…” I read aloud…Is it just my birth father playing
tricks on me…or is it really someone I don't know? But I love this gift but is it
dangerous? I examine the animatronic…it doesn’t seem to be, I turn it on.
“Hello! I'm Ft Edna!” The animatronic says in a happy positive tone. I turn it
off with a smile… as everyone around me is looking at me fascinated. After
finishing opening all my presents I eat some food and even some of my
cake (It was delicious by the way). I hug everyone before they leave and
thank them for all they have done…Kurma stays a little longer with me.
“Hey…out of curiosity, do you think I could visit you sometime?” Kurma asks
interrupting my train of thought…
“Yeah, I’m sure you can…by the way do you know who made me that
animatronic?” I ask trying to unravel the mystery behind the letter.
“Yeah I do, I’m not allowed to tell you though. He told me he’ll visit you
tomorrow,” Kurma replies giving me a hug, I gently hug him back.
“I better get back to the dorms, my friend is probably worried,” I say and walk to my dorm.
