New Comer
"Matagal ka pa ba diyan?"
Tanong ko sa kaibigan kong si Claire. Kanina pa kasi kami dito sa library.
"Teka lang naman," she exclaimed.
"Huwag kang maingay," Vera shushed her down, kasi baka mapagalitan kami nong librarian. Kaunting kaluskos lang kasi nagaglit na.
Dahil nga bakante namin ngayon, dito kami tummbay sa library. She pulled as here after our last class. She's busy scrolling to the library's computer, salking her crush.
Every table here have 4 computers for students to use in research and such.
"Armael John Franco," basa ko sa pangalan nong lalaki. As far as I know, that guy was already a grade 12. He's a year older than us.
"Ano bang meron sa lalakin 'yan?" Vera asked.
"Well, he's an athlete," aniya, parang ianaalala pa ang tangian ng lalaki, "and a campus heartthrob," she said in a singsong voice.
"Shush," the librarian, "Please minimize your voice or you'll be out of this library," dagdag niya pa.
"Sabi kasi sa'yo hinaan mo 'yong boses mo," ani Vera, in a low voice. I see frustrations on her face, kanina pa kasi siya sumasaway sa amin.
Hindi ko talaga siya maintindihan. I don't know what the romantic side of love really is, for me that kind of love is just like a fantasy.
Ang totoo niyan, I came from a broken family. Aside from the love my mother and brother giving me. I don't know what really is the essence of that picturesque kind of love.
Even me, I grew up in an incomplete family. When my father left my mother for his filthy woman. When my father chooses his other family over ours.
