The students of Misty Creek are going into their second semester feeling better than ever. They have prom plans to make, grades to focus on, futures to plan, and their own personal duties to tend to on top of those things.
Sugar and Spice feel the most normal they have ever felt, and Jax is quick to use her newly restored voice to make flirty comments to Sugar. And while Spice is hopelessly in love with Loosey and will always refer to her as the girl who saved her life, the twins' mother isn't as impressed by her. While navigating their new feelings and relationships, they've discovered that the dark spirits that once controlled their bodies have left behind abilities they never had before. And now they have to learn how to use those too.
When Irene isn't learning from Sasha or teaching Amethyst in their newly formed coven, she's doing everything she can to make sure she graduates on time. Missing credits unfortunately can't be made up through magic. Luxx may be quite the distraction since after the events that took place in their first semester she's grown clingier than ever, but the biggest distraction is three new students who have taken it upon themselves to make Bosco and Jasmine's lives hell. And Irene isn't letting them get away with it.
Amethyst is struggling to keep up with Sasha and Irene and has grown frustrated that she isn't as skilled as them yet. Even with Aura's encouragement and willingness to learn with her, she doesn't feel very important. Sasha and Irene have prophetic dreams and visions, Amethyst doesn't. They can master spells in one try, Amethyst can't. Part of her wants to give up on being a witch, but there's something keeping her from doing that. She doesn't know what.
Sasha hasn't felt this happy in a while. She feels safer now that she knows everyone is safe, and it feels nice to have her own little coven of girls to teach and help grow. There's just one problem, and that's her dreams have been plagued by burning fire, and no matter what she does to try to interpret them, she gets no answers. And it doesn't help that two new girls have arrived to her classroom. Ones who make her mind fill with static and blurred images whenever they walk past her.
After spending winter break with Marcia and her family, Anetra feels happier than ever. She doesn't feel like some weird outsider anymore and is glad her living friends understand her abilities a bit more. Especially Marcia. Anetra had no idea how important companionship could be to her until she came along, and her love for her grows everyday. Everything is going so well for her.
Until one day, her spirit friends suddenly fall silent and disappear without a trace.
