Louis sighed exhausted, hands leaning on the table in front of him.

"If LIFE doesn't try to steal the apparent chip with the data tomorrow night, I'm marching into their boring, probably absolutely ugly and equipped with technology from two years ago headquarters myself and fuck them over!"

An amused laugh was heard in his office.

"And how would you know where this pretty headquarter is located, princess?"

Miley chuckled amused, while turning to the right and left in her chair she hung in, legs spread lazily.

"Maybe our gorgeous L'eau Courante is with LIFE"

"As stupid as DEATH is behaving lately... no", Louis chuckled, stood up straight, ignoring Miley's compliment. With her deep voice and strange character, he sometimes didn't know what she meant serious and what not.

"And if I was with LIFE, they would be the world's biggest mafia by now instead of this pathetic clownery"

"You sure you'd have a chance against me?", Jackson asked skeptically, but still half joking as he looked from the monitors back to his ex. The latter put his hands on his hips.

"Oh and you think you wouldn't join me if I fucked off and went to LIFE? And otherwise be your enemy...?"

Jackson was silent, pursed his lips, before he turned away with a "Fair enough, princess". Louis chuckled amused. As much as this answer satisfied him, he knew that having Jackson as enemy wouldn't go well for Louis as well. Them being against each other would never end well; for no one.

"How romantic", Miley sighed and put her hands on her knees to then stand up.

"I'll see you tomorrow, gays. Don't have a too rough night; you all need to be able to walk tomorrow"

Caught back, Jackson turned around, watched Miley walk towards the exit of Louis' office.

"What did you just say?!"

"It's not like I know everything about you, Whittemore", Miley answered as she turned around with a grin, shoulders shrugging, before she left. Louis laughed, looked from the door back to his ex, who snorted almost insulted and turned around.

"I like her"

"Yeah, probably just because she said I take it up the ass", Jackson answered and Louis rolled his eyes, since he noticed that the other leader seriously was insulted in his build-up pride and masculinity. The way Louis had always disliked his old-school brain.

"Oh yes, because that would be the end of the world", he answered ironically, walked up to him.

"You need to stop with this toxic masculinity thing, Jerk-son"

He stopped next to him, watched his profile, while Jackson was looking down to the monitors he tapped around on.

"You know my old man, don't ya?", he mumbled while doing so. It changed Louis' face at the mention of this guy. And although he didn't love Jackson anymore, was over him and disliked so fucking much this guy had done, said and was still saying and doing often... he felt a lump forming in his throat.

"He isn't here", he said softly as if it would help the other man. The latter was quiet, didn't even sigh at Louis' caring voice, swallowed only. Louis turned his back to the wall to have a better view on his ex, one hand on the monitors by their hip level.

"I'd try my best to not let him come near us, okay?"

Jackson chuckled, still didn't look at Louis. Nevertheless, the smaller could see some things in his green eyes that weren't that cold right now. Things from the past he knew, because Jackson either had told him or had hinted or because Louis himself had experienced it when he had met Jackson's father. Plus, Jackson had been everything the smaller had focused on in the past, so he had noticed a lot by himself as well.
