Parents.

They could be exhausting. They could be mean. They could be kind. They could be the best people in your life. They could be your biggest nightmare. They could be strangers to you.

Parents always had been a tough topic for Louis Tomlinson, who had grown up with a lovely mother and the struggle to not want to be in contact with his biological father. He had loved his mother to death; still did.

In his childhood, Louis had thought everyone was blessed with a kind mother like he was; many thought parents always were eager to protect their children. He had soon learned that it wasn't like that always.

The day Louis had noticed there wasn't just a weird feeling he had about his boyfriend's father, but that there was a serious and dangerous tension Jackson had always grown up with, he had learned how cruel a father could be to his own son.

Fathers. There were so many good ones... and so many bad ones.

Once again was Louis having a problem with the father of his boyfriend, when he opened the door of the elder's apartment and stormed out, followed him down the stairs.

Des Styles wasn't anything like Simon Cowell of course; but when it came to making his son feel like a disappointment and a weak child, they both had their ways. Simon did it on purpose, Des wasn't even aware of his actions. There was a difference.

It was that exact difference that made Louis hurry after Des; and the hurt voice he still had in his ears, the voice that hurt himself, because he never wanted Harry to have a voice like this.

"Des!"

He stopped in his platforms, looked down the stairs, where he saw how Harry's father had the hand on the door knob, had stopped. Des looked up to him and Louis' shoulder fell when he saw how cold this man's expression was.

"I respect you a lot, but I won't talk to you about my private life, L'eau Courante"

With this, he opened the door and left the house. Perplexed, Louis couldn't move for a second. Wow, he felt like in the past when Harry had been so fucking focused on staying... sigh, professional.

The leader wasn't having any of this, walked down the stairs and caught the door before it fell close, hurried after Des, who was walking to his car.

"It's not just your private life, but the one of my boyfriend; and mine!", he said loudly after him. Des seemed caught back Louis was calling his son his boyfriend openly. The hand on the door of the car paused and Louis came to a halt a few meters behind him.

"Although you can't imagine that, I'm a person, not just a mafia leader. I have a private life and I'm lucky enough to have your son in it"

Des turned his head and there was a frown on his forehead. He seemed to be overwhelmed Louis had followed him and talked like this, was trying hard instead of being unbothered by Harry's father getting out of the way. Maybe he didn't believe Louis' words either.

"You can't imagine how scared Harry was to tell you about us. You are his father and should support him, but everything he felt was worry, because he fears to be a disappointment. If you have a problem with me, it's something between you and me. Harry isn't to blame or to be punished, just because he chose to believe in his heart"

Des exhaled, let go of the door to turn more to Louis. "Harry is a good guy and has so much potential, but he is distracted quickly"

"You're scared; of him being hurt or getting problems because of me... and of me in general", Louis concluded, took a few steps closer to the father of his boyfriend, tried to appear calm. "I'm not your leader right now, though. My name is Louis and I'm with your son Harry; not with my personal assistant, neither with the son of one of my workers"
