origin: unknown
meanings: a coarse linen or cotton cloth
extra: again with the symbolism, but the fact dowlas fabric
is very plain and expressionless, yet resilient and strong is something
i think represents his persona really well (which you'll see soon!!)

also, the word can be pronounced a number
of ways, but i pronounce it as it looks -
aka two syllables, DOW (like ouch) - LAS

meanings: a horse stallion
extra: more symbolism ahh! but stallions are obviously associated with medieval war-horses, who are noble, heroic and brave (relating well to dowlas's actions during the reaping). they're associated with power and strength, and tend to be independent, making them somewhat intimidating (something that contrasts greatly with the innocent purity and gentleness of the 'fawn').
