Angel & Demon AU

The prologue & chapter 1 speak for the whole AU.

Prologue/lore
"Once, long ago, angels and humans lived peacefully. The humans were grateful for the angels' help, and the angels were happy to help. But, of course, nothing lasts forever.

The humans, as they started to run out of resources and food, began fighting amongst each other. The angels did not take sides, but simply fled to the hidden place up in the sky—heaven.

The angels used to let every human who died into heaven. However, now, that won't work—it would've caused the destruction of heaven. As the demons rose from hell to wreak havoc on the humans, angels came out of hiding to protect the humans.
Demons are evil creatures who—"

"Wait, wait, stop right there! You've only heard the angels' side of the story."

"Huh?"

"The demons are humans who died violent deaths, or did some bad things, yes. HOWEVER, they aren't all bad."

"Prove it."

"Fine. Let me tell you a story..."

Chapter 1 - Third Person POV
An angel flew through a destroyed town where people were screaming and running for their lives. The angel knew that he would meet a powerful demon ahead, but simply took a deep breath to prepare himself. The angel saw fire and smoke ahead of him, and sped up, not wanting more buildings in the town to burn.

This isn't the first one I've dealt with... the angel thought to himself with a sigh. He flew through the air towards the demon, slamming into it and causing it to pause in the destruction of the town. The demon turned. They had blue hair and dark grey skin. They had glittering blue eyes, and a wore simple black hoodie and black pants.

The demon smirked upon seeing the angel. No angel had ever taken him down before, so he was quite confident. The angel, on the other hand, became a bit nervous at the demon's confidence.

The angel summoned one of his angelic swords and lunged at the demon, planning to send it back to the fiery hell it came from. The demon slid to the side, as if taunting the angel. Then, the demon raked its claws through one of the angel's wings, tearing it in half. The angel let out a cry of pain, faltering in the air. The demon thought that he was going to win the fight easily, which made him disappointed. However, the angel turned and sliced a cut in the demon's arm. The demon simply laughed at the angel's attempts.

The angel kicked the demon backwards, but the demon, who was more stable, was hardly affected, lunging at the angel again and tacking him out of the air. The angel and demon plummeted to the ground, the demon raking its claws through the angel's only intact wing and tearing it. The angel hit the ground hard, black spots crowding his vision.

The angel, expecting the demon to kill him, closed his eyes and accepted defeat. However, the demon took a step back, then reached forward and healed the angel. The angel opened his eyes, confused. The demon slid on a black mask with cyan eyes.

"Why didn't you kill me?" the angel questioned, confused.

"Not all demons are bad. You haven't heard our side of the story." the demon replied before turning and flying off. The angel stared after the demon thoughtfully.
