"Wait a minute!" My voice high, eyes widened in shock, "how many brothers do I have?" I asked them, the question, which I should have asked my social worker.
"Five, including me." Adalberto answered nonchalantly. I was shook not by just the mere revelation, also by his casualness to deliver the news. As if being a single child for sixteen years of one's life, one sad day, they're informed they have six brothers... is a normal and an everyday tale.
My shocked eyes unwavering from him, "what?" What if he was playing a dumb prank. He wasn't, nor was he lying. His face seemed genuine. So did his words.
"Yes Elefthria, you have five brothers in total. All older to you," Enenquiel affirmed, coldly and harshly. "Introduce yourself guys." He motioned a hands towards them.
"Hi there, I am Juliano. The nicer twin and soon to be your favourite older brother." One of same faced guys out of the two introduced himself.
I smiled at his excitement. Maybe they're all not bad. And I in-fact was too quick to judge.
"Anastasio." The tall heightened, dressed up in formals, left, rather too quickly. He reeked off arrogance just like his oldest brother.
From the corner of my eye, I could see Adalberto shaking his head, "Johannes, introduce yourself."
"You heard him." Johannes, I suppose, said and took an exit. Indeed, they are all brothers.
And, I was wrong.
They ain't nice.
Audible sigh, I looked at the source, "please excuse me for their behaviour." Enenquiel spoke, "you may go to your room and relax. Dinner is at eight, a maid will escort you." Voice cold. Tone low.
"Come, I will show you, your room." Adalberto kept a hand on the small of my back, I nodded at him. Before we could walk, Juiano stopped us.
"Wait! I will show her room."
"Alright." Adalberto, turned to me, "I hope you like your room, I will go now." He left without waiting for my reply.
"Shall we?" Juiano asked me.
"Sure."
"After you."
I smiled at his decency, "I don't know where we are supposed to go." I bit my lip. Why I had to put him in a position of embarrassment. Not that I was aware of my room.
He slapped a hand to his head, "my bad, too dumb of me to say that, right?" He began walking.
"No," I shook my head, "It in fact was really polite of you to say that."
His smile deepened.
I don't know about others, but he is nice. And definitely the nicer twin. Taking the staircase, a turn, few doors, he opened a door, letting me in first, "this is your room, Elef."
