The hard slam of something being dropped onto a desk made Officer Barrett's head snap upwards, searching for an intruder of some sort.
"You're going to want to take a look at this." Officer Joe said warily. Officer Barrett noticeably relaxed as he saw that the 'intruder' was his fellow officer.
Officer Barrett sighed as he grabbed the file that had banged noisily onto his desk moments earlier.
"What am I looking at here?" Officer Barrett asked, even though he had a pretty good idea what the answer was.
"3 more missing persons." was the predictable reply that confirmed Officer Barrett's previous hunch.
Normally nothing like this happened in the small town of Lonsdale, MN. That's why everyone was worried and fatigued. 8 missing persons in the last 2 weeks. That doesn't happen anywhere. Much less in this tiny town.
The Rice County Sheriff Department was working overtime trying to get to the bottom of this but so far they had nothing. Whatever was going on was not stopping, though. In fact, it was getting worse.
The missing persons number had been increasing more drastically recently. The last 3 people went missing within a day. A day!
Whoever is doing this is not backing down.
Whoever is doing this must be stopped...
Because no one is safe.
