So... this happened during the second week of school...
Miyuki-sensei stood at the podium, starting the day with homeroom.
"It's been a week since school started, and now that you've gotten to know your classmates better, it's time for us to elect a Class President."
So, it's that time. Whoever gets chosen for this, will either have one of two reactions. They will either embrace the responsibility because they want it, or they will get pissed off because they hate extra work and responsibilities.
I'm very much on the latter side. I don't care who gets picked, but it'd better not be me.
"We will be deciding this through a vote. Using the school issued tablets, you guys will be accessing an app to write down one person's name."
Each of us were given tablets issued by the school to assist us with our studies. Some students tried to abuse this luxury by going on different websites or playing video games, but since all the tablets were connected to the school's internet, they are able to restrict access to anything not related to our studies.
It was normal for the school to do this, but I didn't accept it. Through my expertise in the cyber world, I found a way to get past this. I made a programme at home, which I saved on a thumb drive, to get past all of these security protocols and also prevent the school from finding out by blocking all methods of tracking. All I had to do after that was plug it into the tablet to install the programme, and everything was good to go. Once the programme's installed, I could just remove it. The school will never even realise that something like this is happening.
With this amazing innovation, I thought of a way I can profit. So, I started selling my services for a cost of 3500 yen, beginning with some of my classmates, with the condition that they will never ever mention my name if they were caught.
Some small threats were directed at them, which didn't go too far, but enough to get them to agree. My mini empire grew, and soon more than half the school has bought my programme. That's how I managed to get more 'popular' in school, and got to know some other more popular seniors, such as the members of the student council, and captains of clubs.
Connecting his tablet to the visualiser, he showed a demo of how everything will work. It was relatively simple, and didn't seem like it would cause much confusion.
"The person with the most votes will be chosen, and they will get to pick who will be the Vice-President. Usually we would go with the person with the 2nd most votes, but since the President would be given more responsibilities, we would like them to pick someone they trust to assist them with it. Any questions?"
No one raised their hands, so Miyuki-sensei gave us the green light to proceed. Switching on my tablet, my hand hovered on the keyboard, thinking of who I should vote for.
Kasumi would be a good pick, due to her intelligence and discipline, but she's too shy. Yuji is too much of a pushover, despite how respected and kind-hearted he is.
As I was debating on who I should pick, I noticed that the number of votes had already reached 37, despite only a minute passing. There's 38 students in the class, so that could only mean...
"Shimura, you're the last one. Try and speed things up, alright?" Miyuki-sensei called me out.
I have no clue what's going on, but I finally made my decision and voted for Kyoka, my seatmate. I didn't have a good reason, I just thought that since she's quite the fierce and scary type, it would be easy for her to get the other student's to fall in line. Even Connard and pals have stopped trying to bully her. Though I might have a small hand in that... My involvement with her situation was part of the reason why we've gotten closer and she began to trust me.
