"I'll see ya later then, lad." Ashton said from down the hall when Calum was closing his locker. Calum grabbed his books off of the floor and picked up his bookbag. it was 3:24 in the afternoon and the last day of school for his eleventh year.
He made his way to the front door, where all of the walkers would be let out, and checked his phone. his mother had texted him over an hour ago.
"shit." he mumbled to himself before stopping to answer the text.

Mother: Why didn't you shut off the bathroom light on the way out? I also told u to take out the trash, which you didn't do for the third time.
Calum: sorry, God, calm down. she'll be apples, just calm down I'll be home soon.
He then put his phone away and began to walk home. His house was quite a ways from his school, Central High, and his mother didn't have a car, so this was his only way home. Usually he just asked for a ride, but he wasn't up for it today. so he decided to cut through the woods on his way home instead of walking through the zig-zag-like paths that the neighborhood had for roads.
He walked down the street and too the beginning of the trees before checking the time.
3:37. that meant that he had almost a half an hour to get home and take care of everything before his mom got home. Calum sighed and kept walking.
The wind was unusually strong that day, and he didn't know why. It made the trees get all shaky and the clouds covered the sky more making it darker. finally it began to rain. He pulled out his beanie and began walking faster.
He was walking for about a minute before he felt someone looking at him. he tried to ignore it, but it was unbearable. finally he looked around for anyone to be there.
nobody.
"I'm imagining things again. nice."
He checked the time again and just as he was putting his phone back in his pocket, he heard a crack and turned around quickly.

what he saw in that moment he wouldn't never forget, in all further years in his life.

At that moment he began to run, faster and faster until he began to lose his breath. but what was chasing him caught up very quickly. The wind got so strong that it made him run slightly slower, not to mention pushing off his hat and knocking his phone to the soaked ground. Calum took no notice in it and kept running.
After a while he got exhausted, but he tried to run.
He was running faster and faster.. but suddenly he tripped on a stump.

Calum didn't return home that day.
