"Oh you're fucking joking.." Sofie could barely speak, so it was a miracle that more than one word could come out of her mouth at the moment. Let alone a sentence.
She couldn't move.
This is the end. We're all gonna die. Her parents weren't here with her to hear her say she loves them, her brother wasn't there to give her one last hug, Momo wasn't fluffy enough to cry into anymore, everything was gone. She could do nothing but feel fear and the tears welling up-
"That's a problem." Sofie and Momo both turned their heads as quickly as humanly possible towards their backs. It was Marty who had voiced the obvious problem.
"..What..?" Momo was also in astonishment and denial.
Marty looked over to the older boy in the room. "That's a problem?" Sofie had her mouth open as if ready to speak, but it took her a second before she did.
"So.. so you know what's happening??.."
"Well," Marty began, "I'm not completely sure what could be causing our sudden transformation. It could be a lot of things. Maybe a Sirynum Stone was broken," Marty calmly explained to the brunette, almost as if he wasn't suggesting the idea that everybody knew what a fucking Sirynum Stone was.
Sofie was shocked, also caught off guard. When she asked if he knew what was happening, she was mostly referring to the moonrise, not the animal transformation. She'd been wondering about that too, but she would have preferred to know about the moon first. She was instead learning about.. Sirynum Stones?
"Though we can't say for sure that the cause is a Sirynum Stone breaking. Even if it was, we don't know what's broken it or what's going to happen since it did. Overall making it harder to figure out what to do about it." The little boy had pointed out some very interesting, no, scratch that, some very bullshit-sounding information.
"What, so you mean to tell me I have a fatass and an eight year old in my living room just because of some stupid broken rock?" Sofie had gestured over to Momo who was mostly unphased by her her insult. He didn't seem to care much at all.
Marty smiled a little bit more, "Well, yes you could say that." Lovely.
"Dude!" Sofie exclaimed, "I don't want some dumb teenager and a knock-off Sheldon Cooper in my house!" Now she definitely needed to find that rock or crystal, whatever it was. She was willing to glue it together. Hell, she'd use tape if she had to.
"Teenager? He's twenty-one." Marty began as he looked pointedly at Momo, only to be interrupted by Sofie's jaw drop, followed by her scream of confusion.
"WHAT?!" She probably had almost busted a vocal cord, and the others seemed to think the same, by the concern and surprise they had been wearing, most likely caused by her unnecessary screaming.
"But he has such a baby face! You have to be joking!" Having an adult that wasn't her parent inside her living room was debatably even worse than a teenager.
Marty's concern turned to giggling and Momo smiled, very obviously taking it as a compliment.
"No, cats age a lot faster than humans." Marty knew that the girl had already figured this out, but he still told her as if she hadn't, simply because it was funny.
Though Sofie wasn't as amused. She wasn't a fan of looking stupid. At least, in front of people.
As shocked as she was, she wouldn't go down without making a sassy remark.
"What's next, you start speaking fucking Russian or something??"
"Уже происходит. Я сибиряк, вы знаете," Momo had replied confidently, arms crossed and his chin up. Sofie was very frustrated, wanting to just move on from the topic already.
"Yeah, fine, whatever. Not that I'm not loving this talk we're in the middle of," Marty snickered, knowing she was the one who started the 'talk they were in the middle of', "But what's going on with the moon?? None of what you said explains it." She quickly went away from the conversation. Not so smoothly, but effectively, circling back to the original problem.
"Oh I have no clue," That was a hard statement to believe, considering the fact that he sounded like a genius a minute ago, followed by his large vocabulary. The boy rubbed his eye, supposedly a bit tired. "I'm only eight, you know." He put his hand back down to his side, raising the other one to his neck, seemingly in pain.
..Yeah, he had to stare up at the two just to talk to them, no wonder his neck hurt. The two weren't exactly tall (especially Momo, considering his age), just above 5'0, but Marty was quite short. Around 3'0.
"So would Momo know since he's older?" The girl had pointed out. Momo looked around and then put his hands up slightly.
Marty thought for a second, but then waved her off. "Maybe if he was a tad brighter, but he's made it clear that we'd be better off asking the other human cat. Or the human dog." You know, out of context, that would have sounded so strange, though Sofie could infer that he was referring to Kiki and Mimi. That'd make sense, as they were
older and probably a bit smarter."Hey! I'm plenty smart," He countered. Momo wasn't about to take shit from a little boy who was half his size.
Marty raised a brow, which was admittedly really cute to see from an eight year old. "But you don't have a problem with being called a fatass?" Marty squinted his eyes, brow still raised. He had shifted his weight a bit more onto his hip so that he was sort of leaning to the right, arms crossed. That only made him look even cuter, of course.
Momo huffed. "That's completely different." Marty looked Momo up and down after the humanoid had come to his own defense. "I'm a very proud fatass. I'm not stupid!" Marty's expression didn't change, but with the exception of the smile that made it's way onto his face, clearly not convinced that Momo was telling the truth.
"Anyways," Sofie interrupted the conversation, but didn't speak until a few seconds later when she had the attention of both parties. "We should start on finding the others." After she had gotten a reluctant look from Momo and a nod from Marty, who had a much more straightened out and relaxed posture, she checked the time. 12:25. Then she turned around to face the window once more.
The moon was much higher. They really had to hurry. Sofie did NOT want to know what would happen once the moon had gotten as high as it could possibly be.
