It was dark outside, as Sofie had expected it to be. It was Mid-January, and the fact that it was the beginning of the night was most definitely not help the freezing weather.

..Well, it was sort of the beginning of the night, if you were to take a guess based off of appearance. In reality, it was about 3pm. The moon had.. not moved from its place since 12:30. That worried Sofie, as she didn't know why the moon was rising in the first place. Why was it frozen? It wasn't as high as the moon usually goes. In fact, it was much lower. the sky was a pretty shade of purple though, so Sofie tried to distract herself by thinking about that. It proved ineffective as she didn't care much for the color of the sky when there was a problem with the moon that for some reason wasn't on the news.

Around 1:30pm, she had gone onto messages, in an attempt to gather her friends into an area with their now human pets, and discuss what was happening. Though to her surprise, Vivienne had explained how they were all planning to meet up to talk about it, and were about to text her about it.

The kids had made a plan to meet over at Azrael's at 3:30pm. Sofie, Valentina, and Vivienne were all going to walk together.

In present time, Sofie was in her winter clothing. She had brought her pink and black jacket that looked quite big on her. Her boots, gloves, and her hat were all black, and she had on a pink mask. Her white earmuffs were quite helpful too. She even found a matching pair for Marty!

Speaking of Marty, she had found him a big jacket, which was no problem since he was quite small. It was blue, covering his chin, down to his knees. The fluff of his hood reminded Sofie of a little boy from a show, named Kenny. It covered his entire face! It was so cute! Momo seemed to tease him about it though. He had also been wearing her old boots, which were black. Sofie mostly owned black clothing. She thought it was the best color to wear. He had a big blue hat on, a pink scarf that was proven useless thanks to the fluff of his hoodie, and some light blue mittens.

Momo physically gagged at wearing anything that was hers, much to Sofie's annoyance towards his difficulty. So, she got him her mom's bigger brown jacket that he reluctantly put on. He put on a red scarf, black mittens and a yellow hat. She gave him a weird look and told him that the colors made absolutely no sense and that his taste was weird. But he didn't seem to care.

The small group was walking to Vivienne's house, which was only a five minute walk away. Marty held the hand of the older girl, with his other hand dangling, and her other hand in her pocket, holding her phone within as well. Momo was just walking with both of his hands in his pocket.

Sofie knocked on Vivienne's door, and waited no more than 5 seconds before the door was hastily opened by Vivienne, who pulled Sofie inside.

She was pretty stunned, but quickly pushed away lightly. The other two humanoids came inside to see Sofie staring at Vivienne in confusion.

"Yeah so.." Vivienne poked her head out the door, before closing it. "There's something going on outside." Vivienne averted her gaze from Sofie and formed her lips into a line.

"Oh, really?" Sofie pushed past and went upstairs to see if anyone else was there. Nobody was, but Vivienne ran up beside her and continued.

"No no, you don't understand." Sofie's green eyes had landed on Vivienne's brown ones, giving her full attention to Vivienne.

Vivienne gently grabbed Sofie by the sleeve and pulled her towards the living room, across from the stairs. Sofie looked back to the two other boys behind them, but they were busy. Momo was taking a nap and Marty was playing on Sofie's phone that he had at some point taken from her pocket. So, she looked back towards the living room.

She stopped a few feet from the couch as Vivienne let go of her sleeve, and went closer towards the couch, pulling out something from behind it.

It was a glowing.. shard? Of glass..? Purple glass?? She had no idea what to make of it. She could tell it was foggy yet translucent, which led her to believe it was some form of purple glass. But why the glow?

The shard wasn't very big but it was about the size of Vivienne's full hand, so it wasn't small. It didn't look heavy, but thin and light. Though she wouldn't know unless she held it. She wasn't very eager to do so though, since the edges looked quite sharp. Sofie didn't know how Vivienne was holding it and not immediately cutting her entire arm off.

"What the fuck is that..?!" She was whisper-yelling, but she wanted nothing more than to scream at the very moment. Not from fear, just from confusion. I mean, animals were humans, the moon was rising, there was a glowing shard of purple glass, what was there to not be confused about at this point? She wouldn't be surprised if humans started to turn into animals.

"I don't know, but Kiki didn't want to go near it." As Vivienne brought it closer Sofie's glasses began to fog, and turn purple. This didn't go unnoticed by the two, as Vivienne watched Sofie take the glasses off and stare in surprise before lightly wiping the fog.

They didn't need to share words, but Sofie brought the glasses over to the shard, and Vivienne brought the shard closer to the glasses, at the same pace.

Stunned wasn't big enough of a word to describe their feelings as the glasses began to turn purple, and put on a show,

The lenses turned a smokey purple, but you could make out a dark figure, dancing on the right lens.

The figure looked to be an adult woman, slim and tall. She was looking around, as if she had lost something. On the other lens, there was something like a.. a bird? could it have been a bat? Well, it was something that could fly. It flew over to the woman on the other lens, and she didn't miss the way that the bird had one wing cut badly.

As the bird plopped down into her arms, the shard of glass stopped glowing and turned back to its transparent nature. This had an effect on the glasses too, as they went from purple to transparent as well.

The two were robbed of everything but their silence and dropped jaws. Nothing could break their trance. Except apparently for the sound of a doorbell. Only slightly though, since the only thing the noise did was make their eyes move.

Since Momo and Marty were already there, the two quickly decided that Marty should be the one to open the door.

When he did, the little boy was met with a girl being held in the arms of some guy with a stone cold face. The girl had brown-ish blonde-ish braides, blue eyes, and a smug smile on her face.

Momo blocked Sofie's view of the visitors, and only moved once his name was called.

"Momo? Who's here?" The brunette made a fruitless attempt to look around said boy. Momo looked back, and then once Sofie was directly behind Momo, he moved, to Sofie's horror.

FUCK, El was here.

With Gaston.

GASTON. THE SAME DOG THAT MADE HER CRY.

Okay. Maybe there was a slight chance that the man at the door carrying El like a bodyguard wasn't Gaston. Maybe El randomly became rich and got a bodyguard.

To this thought, Sofie slowly got rid of the terrified expression she had frozen on her face. She attempted to reach out and touch El, to which the man barked. He literally just unironically barked. Even though it would have been comical to anyone else, it wasn't to Sofie. No, she jumped back in surprise and screamed not so loudly, yet not so quietly.

"Put me down, Gaston." El ordered, to which Gaston quickly complied, setting her down on her feet gently. El stood there for a couple of seconds, then moved to the living room.

Sofie stood next to Gaston, the two frozen. Though she was side eyeing him in fear. She flinched when he moved, though it was only to walk over to El.

She let out the breath that was subconsciously being held. Then turned to face the door once more. The others were behind the door, just standing there very awkwardly.

As they all settled into the living room, Sofie and Vivienne sat next to each other on the couch, giving the other a glare that made it clear, the same thought was going through their head.

How were they supposed to explain this simply?
