Taehyun didn't stay at school much longer after that either. At least, not mentally. Physically, he was there, but mentally, he was gone. Checked. Out.
He felt guilty.
He didn't want to reject Beomgyu. Heck, when the older confessed to him, he felt fucking ecstatic. But it's not like he could let it show. It's not like he could ever date Beomgyu. Because they wouldn't be all too happy.
Taehyun has what some people might call, 'helicopter parents.' They keep tabs on him literally 24/7. He can't even fully live his life in peace. And he's in college for fuck's sake. He's literally an adult! His parents moved to Seoul from Ansan just so they could keep their eyes on him.
He hated how they still had control over him but he couldn't do anything about it. They're the only family he has. The reason he has a roof over his head, food in his stomach, and clothes on his back. The majority of it is due to his parents. Despite their somewhat harsh way of parenting, he knows that they love him and that they want only the best for him.
And yeah, he loves his parents too. He's especially close with his mother. He feels like he can tell her anything. Or— almost anything. There's one little thing about Taehyun that his parents don't quite know.
He's gay.
And his parents are very... traditional. You know what, we might as well just say homophobic. Taehyun didn't like to acknowledge that part of his parents but sometimes he just couldn't push it aside. They were fucking homophobic and Taehyun didn't understand why. They've shit on people from the community for so long, but with what reason?
All the bad things they've said made Taehyun scared. He's known who he is since high school. He's had to keep this secret from his parents for that long. And that meant that he hasn't had any relationships since then either. Excluding the fake and short-lived relationships he's had with some girls. Those were solely just to shut his parents up anyways.
He's never been truly.. 'in love.' Just small crushes here and there. But that changed when he met Beomgyu. Over the time they knew each other, he fell in love with the older. And to have Beomgyu confess to him just for Taehyun to have to reject him was fucking heartbreaking. Someone finally likes him back and he can't even have them.
Boy, how he fucking hates it here.
