"There will be a list of Topics for Composition you can use on Google Classroom. Remember that is due on Wednesday." The bell rings just as I finish speaking.
"Have fun with your boyfriend, Miss Robertson!" Zach yells as he runs out the door.
"I hope he falls on his face, Miss R," Chloe says as she walks down a row of desks, and I chuckle.
"We won't be that fortunate, Chlo," Izzy tells her. "See you tomorrow, Miss Robertson."
A.J. comes up to my desk and shoves a paper in his binder. "Hey Miss R, thanks for calling my mom the other day. I'm broke now but hey, it's better than a random dick going around school, claiming to be mine."
I purse my lips together and Declan cackles behind me. "I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that, and kindly ask you to leave."
"Sure thing, bye!" He waves as he walks out with his friends.
"What the hell is he talking about?" Declan asks and I turn my head. After all of my students have cleared out, I fill him in on A.J.'s situation. "Holy shit. Poor kid."
"Yeah. He's a sweetheart, though."
Two students from one of my morning classes, come waltzing in to set their things on the two desks in front of mine. "Oh, you're going to have to eat in the cafeteria today, girls."
"What? That place is disgusting." Maddie groans, giving me a frown.
"I'm not staying here for lunch anymore."
"Can we still eat in here?"
"By yourselves. Definitely not. I'll get in trouble. And Mrs.Wesselman is out for lunch today too, so don't bother trying her." I lean against my desk as the girls frown.
"Can we come in tomorrow then?" Kendall asks, picking her books back up.
"Ask me again tomorrow," I tell them and they smile.
"Okay. See you later." Kendall starts walking toward the door, Maddie following behind her.
Maddie calls out over her shoulder, "And have fun with the hottie."
"Maddie, you did not just say that," Kendall says before their voices fade away.
Something taps my arm. "They like picking on you."
I look over my shoulder to see Declan leaning back in my chair, with his feet propped up on my desk. "You're going to break my chair, get up."
"Are you implying something?"
"Yes. That you're fat. Now, do you want lunch or not, I only have an hour and a half today."
Declan gasps as he sits up. "Sweetheart, if you think this is fat, you've got another thing coming for you." He gestures down his body, and stupidly, I let my gaze follow.
He's wearing a grey hoodie, with a black and white flannel over it. Faded jeans cling to his muscular thighs, in a way that has my stomach tightening. And when he turns around to grab my coat from the back of my chair, I get a view of just how nicely those jeans fit his ass.
"Checking me out, sweetheart?"
"You wish." I turn my head to hide my blush as he turns around.
"You bet I do." He holds my coat and purse out in front of me. I turn my head and grab them from his hands, causing our fingertips to brush. "What're you hungry for?"
I shrug. "I dunno."
"Well, what do you want? Pizza? Burgers? This ass?" He says and then his eyes widen. "Sorry, wrong person for that humor."
