Pete
I was still trying to figure out why Toni would fake her own death and leave me behind. It made no sense. I thought we were in love, but at this point I didn't know what to believe.
The doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of Patrick, Andy and Joe. I really just wanted to be left alone right now but we had all agreed to meet up for a brainstorming session. Thankfully, upon opening the door, I saw Joe had brought tequila. I raised an eyebrow at Patrick.
"Don't look at me man, I'm as sober as Andy is. I'm just having two shots to get through all of this madness."
I couldn't argue with the guy. This was a pretty strange and fucked up situation. We all went and sat in the bar where Joe expertly poured us our shots and Andy began talking.
"Okay, so what do we know?"
Patrick scoffed, "well we know Antonia is far from dead."
I nodded, "we also know that she doesn't want to be found. Meaning she's well hidden."
Joe chimed in with an obvious point, "what did she do with her firm? She oulnt have passed it on to family. She has none."
It was the most logical explanation. I picked up my phone and dialed the firm's number. "Thank you for calling Tawny Recruitment Services. Dial 1 if you are looking for an employee and dial 2 if you wish to submit a résumé to our agencies. For operator assistance, please dial hash."
My eyes widened. "She sold the company. Meaning she must have left at least an electronic trial."
Andy ran his hands through his beard pensively. "We'd need someone who'd be able to hack her emails to give us some sort of clue."
Joe poured a third round of tequila and smiled. "I've got just the man for the job."
