*TWO MONTHS LATER*

(sorry this chapter took a while, im tired and i also hateddd this at first, now its just okay ig)

- a wednesday afternoon -

"Can we get Adeline for Dissmissal please?" The front desk lady, Mrs. Roper said on the intercom as my teacher gave me a nod, signalling for me to leave.

I gathered my things quickly before leaving, hugging Ellie on my way out of science class.

"Tell me how she is okay?" Ellie asked as she released me from the hug, waving me goodbye as I left the classroom, waving back to her.

I briskly walked down the brightly lit and empty hallway, running my fingers along the little grooves in the wall all the way to the front office.

"Hey Quinn, you ready to go?" Mrs. Roper asked as she started typing on her laptop to sign me out.

"Yeah, isn't it crazy that she'll be able to come here any day now? She's getting much stronger and she can walk really well." I smiled, bragging about all of Jules' achievements from the past few weeks.

"I bet you're excited to have her home with you, I know I'm excited to finally meet her." She said, pressing a button to let me out of the front door, giving me two thumbs up like she always does.

I make my way into the parking lot before getting into the car and starting it up, beginning the route I've taken everyday for some time now.

For the past two months, Jules has been in the hospital, trying her best to get better everyday.

The damaged caused by the drugs nearly ruined her kidneys, but was able to be treated quickly because of how early they had caught it.

During her treatments, she had terrible pnemonia, which nearly costed her life.

I spent every second I could at her bedside, watching her fight for her life everyday.

The thought that I could walk into the hospital and not have her here anymore, it absolutely ruined me.

At the end of the day, she made it though, all with a fighting spirit and a smile on her face.

Some say she's a lucky girl, I say she's a miracle.

Everyday is hard, none of this has been easy, but knowing that it'll all be over soon keeps us both going.

"Hey Quinn, be careful, Jules' meds are making her extra moody today." Nurse Johnson warned me as I walked down Jules' hallway, laughing at the caution.

"Johnson told me you're moody today." I laughed as I walked into Jules' room to see her coloring in a coloring book on her tray.

"Well I'm not, she's a liar." Jules huffed as she continued to color.

"Okay grumpy, where'd you get the coloring book?" I asked as I sat down my bag and walked over to her bed, sitting at the foot of it.
