Miles Quaritch POV

I don't remember how long I stood on that surface that kept me above the water...even I couldn't understand why he saved me. I doubt Sully would either. I quickly left the platform and swam to the bottom because I remembered seeing Lyle get knocked into the water by that crazy b---- Sully made his wife.

I managed to pull out Lyle from they water giving him CPR. I wasn't letting him die on me.

"come on....come on" I muttered under my breath until finally I watched Lyle cough up water gasping for air with a sense of relief washing over me. He was alive...thank god.

"M-Miles...is that you?!" He said while coughing between words, I smirked and pat him on the back helping him sit up.

"Alive and well" I replied still smirking. And let out a sigh looking around seeing dead bodies floating and in the water of my men. I don't know how they did it but they won....for now.

"What do we do now?" Lyle said.

I sighed as I got up, pulling him up as well. While scavenging for weapons and guns, as I looked back to him.

"We grab what we can, then we find our way back to Bridgehead. We gotta move fast before nightfall or else we're as good as dead." Lyle nodded in agreement at my statement and also started grabbing supplies. Once we got settled we found a small inflatable boat and got it set up and started finding a way back to base, with the help of a GPS we also found. Thankfully not everything was damaged by the water.

Lyle sighed "God damn once we get back, I'm gonna eat a whole week's worth of food"

I rolled my eyes at his statement and scoffed "For a guy who almost died you're pretty relaxed about this whole ordeal, I respect that in a solider but really how are you so calm?" To which Lyle leaned his head back staring up at the sky as he went silent for a moment.

"Well?" I asked more impatiently and that's when he finally answered me.

"Well didn't technically...we already died before? Wouldn't they just find a way to bring us back?...I mean our memories from what we were are implanted into us...but I don't know it just feels as if it's kinda meaningless."

I paused in surprise trying to figure out how to approach what to say next. He basically just admitted to having a crisis and lord knows that wasn't in any training I've taken.

"I mean ....you got a point...I wondered that too...and the whole memory thing I never really took much thought into...sure I remember but I don't... remember....but what I do know is we have a job to do. And that's Kill Jake Sully and his kin"

Lyle nodded closing his eyes "yeah you're right, hey wake me up if it's an emergency. I need this sleep."

I deadpanned him "Really? You're going to sleep now?!" To which my answer from him was the sound of him snoring. I kept watch the rest of the time being...

After awhile we ended up getting to some land and started taking our adventure on foot, the GPS was somewhat glitchy but it was better than nothing because for all we knew the RDA thought we were dead..

After hours of traveling we took a moment and rested, finding some food to eat. Lyle had picked some fruit and started eating before we even sat down.

"You eat like an animal" I said, to which he looked at me and kept devouring the fruit like he was on death row eating his last meal.

"We're blue monkeys, so technically I am an animal"

"Technically we're that tribes race the uh....you know what blue monkeys is good"

We both shared a laugh as we finished up our fruit and headed on our way to Bridgehead with the help of the GPS.

Finally after painstaking hours we made it ...I honestly don't remember much what happened next. I just know Lyle and I were taken to be examined and once after it was done me and Lyle climbed into our beds and passed out.

Man have I ever been so grateful for beds.
