(wills pov)
I look into the mirror at myself. What happened to me? Why am I the one that everyone chooses not to love? I feel the scar on my cheek. I can't even remember who gave it to me. I take another good look at myself and make a decision.
Mike isn't in love with me. I am not his; he is not mine. I am just a friend to him, but he's the boy I wish I could spend all of my life with him. He and I have an odd relationship though. Somedays he will want to talk with me for hours, and the others he will ignore me on. I don't know what I would do without Mike. It's stupid, but I feel like living just wouldn't be the same. Maybe that's how love feels.
This is putting me in a horrible mood. I kind of storm up the stairs. To my shock, Jim is actually cooking something. Joyce and El are sitting at the dining table and I sit down too.
"What's up Will?" El asks.
"Not me, that's for sure." I say, because I'm still half asleep. Everyone laughs at that.
"Well Hop decided to make breakfast for you guys before school, It should be ready in a few minutes. Also, can you drive El to school?" Joyce explains. Shit! I still have to get ready for school.
"Oh yeah of course!" Jumping up from my seat, I head towards the stairs and say "But I gotta go get ready!"
It's colder out than it was yesterday. But I wear a similar outfit anyway. A flannel over a white t-shirt and brown shorts. I mess up my hair a little bit before running back upstairs.
"Just in time Will. Breakfast is ready." Hopper tells me as he makes me a plate.
"Thanks Jim."
"No problem bud."
I quickly eat my food, because I haven't eaten in at least 12 hours. El is only halfway done, but I don't care. I get up from the table and rinse off my plate before my mom tells me how I don't have to.
"I'll be waiting in the car!" I wave goodbye and leave the house. Eventually El comes out and we embark to school.
...
When I get to school, all of the boys in the party are over by the bike racks. I get out of the car and walk over to them.
"Haha, I forgot you can't drive!" I tease them.
"Hey that's not fair! You don't even need to drive! I saw your running skills." Mike argues.
"It is so fair!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yuh-huh! Besides you turn 16 this school year anyway!"
"Still! " Mike makes a dumb little face. Dumb, but cute.
"Sorry to break up this argument, but Eddie is waiting for me." Dustin says before he leaves.
"Who is Eddie?" I ask.
"Some friend of his, I think he's a drug dealer." Lucas explains. I wouldn't think Dustin would know a drug dealer, or someone who does drugs. I don't think he would do drugs either, because it reminds him of his father. His dad wasn't exactly a dick but he still left and rarely contacts the poor boy.
"Never thought Dustin would hang out with someone like that but whatever." Mike complains.
"Hey, never thought you would hang with a girl but here you are!" Lucas teases.
The two start bickering and I quietly slip away from them. My first period is far from the entrance. I lock eyes with James, who is Troy's dumb minion boy. Before he can even get out of the conversation he's in, I make a dash for it. When I think he has given up I slow down.
...
Mike catches up to me during lunch. We sit together so it was almost inevitable.
"Hey Will. I meant to ask you about something before school but I didn't get a chance to and I don't have a class with you before lunch." Mike explains the very simple concept to me.
"Well, what's up?" I ask.
"Oh well, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to hang out on friday? I was planning on going to the quarry and swimming or something that night." He offers. Is this a date?
"Is anyone else coming?" I just had to check.
"Oh uh, no. I was thinking just the two of us." He tells me. My face is in a slight smile but inside I'm losing my absolute shit. I know he has a girlfriend and he's straight, but still! It's like a platonic date!
"Yeah, of course!" I grin.
About a minute after our conversation, Lucas, Dustin, and someone I don't know sit down.
"Hey guys! This is Eddie." Dustin chirps.
"Hey." Eddie greets us. His voice is kind of grungy, but gives off vibes that say 'I am losing my voice so do not talk to me'.
"Hi." Mike gives a little glare and I wave.
The situation is very awkward. Only Dustin and Eddie say anything to each other. As soon as I throw away my lunch; mike immediately grabs me away from the table.
"What do you think about that Eddie guy?" Mike remarks.
"I don't know. I mean; I think once we all actually talk together, we could be friends." I respond.
"Hmm." He gives me a look.
"Listen, Max and you are- sorta friends? You hated her at first but now you guys hang out."
"But we don't like each other that much Will."
"Okay Mike, at least try to get along with him."
"Fine, but if everything goes to hell, don't say I didn't warn you."

a/n: so there's a few things I need to discuss.
1. If you are a fan of this book, Thank you! It means a lot even if this fic doesn't have many views.
2. I had major writers block writing this chapter, so it was late.
3. I'm going to try and get a few chapters in before I have to travel without my computer.
