Not What I Expected (Bowser x reader)

Chapter 10

        Lia holds me in her embrace for probably seven minutes or so, but it still doesn't feel long enough. "Alright slugger, ya gotta let go of me eventually, yer crushin' my ribs over here." She says tapping my shoulder repeatedly, as if she were tapping out of a wrestling match. I give her one last squeeze before releasing her, still shaking from how much just happened so fast. Luigi stands awkwardly to the side, fiddling with his overalls. I wave him over and he stands there for a second before jogging over to me and Lia. I can't help myself as I tackle Luigi in a big thank you hug, picking him up and spinning him around in my excitement. He seems startled at first, but relaxes a bit once he sees how happy I am. "Luigi, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I promise you I will do anything in my power to help you rescue Mario." I say wiping the tears threatening to spill from my eyes. 

        "EXCUSE ME?!" Bowser shouts from the other side of the room, smoke slowly trickling out of his nostrils. I roll my eyes and sigh, beginning to walk all the way over to him before Lia stops me and hands me my staff, the one with Ivy carved in a spiral pattern all the way down, and a small snail carving adorning the top. (He has a little hat). I sigh happily and take my staff from her before mounting it like one would to ride a horse side-saddle. I channel a small amount of energy and propel myself forward to be face to face with Bowser who's now impatiently tapping his foot on the stone brick floors. Huh, like father like son I guess. I land in front of him and narrow my eyes. "Like I said, Luigi has always been the more reasonable one and he's gotten us one step closer to dethroning Peach and has saved us an extra trip to the Mushroom kingdom! So yeah, I'm gonna help him save Mario." Bowser sighs and gives me a tired smile, his demeanor shifting. "Alright, alright. No need to get huffy." He ruffles my hair and moves his finger under my chin to lift my head. My face heats up, still not completely used to affection. He looks into my eyes, his tender gaze shifting all over my face and it looks like he wants to kiss me again, but once again, the moment is quickly broken when Lia taps me on my shoulder. 

       "As much as I hate to disturb the blossoming romance you two have going on, shouldn't we really start planning our next move?" she says, slinging her arm over my shoulder. Bowser clears his throat and nods, before glancing at Luigi, still on the other side of the room, twiddling his thumbs. "Hey, Green 'stache, we could actually use your help with this, you comin'?" Bowser shouts across the room. Luigi is briefly startled before jogging over to us. "Yeah, I'm in." Bowser nods firmly "Kamek!" he shouts, before Kamek appears before us "Yes, your clamorousness?" "Gather all of my generals in the conference room. Now we finally begin our preparations for the fall of the Mushroom Kingdom."

         A/N: Sorry for a shorter chapter, I just really wanted to get something out. But I saw the Super Mario Movie and no spoilers from me, I just wanted to say that it has only fueled my obsession with Bowser and any so called "critics" who say the plot of the movie is thin has clearly never played a Mario game before. Also OVER 4 THOUSAND READS WHAAAAAT?!!! Thank you all so much for your support it really means so much to me.
