Bondita had tears in her eyes her own husband was not believing her, she was not able to understand how to explain them, they were busy blaming her for the mistake she never did,
Tears blurred her vision. She felt suffocated—how could she prove her innocence when even Anirudh, her pati babu, didn’t believe her? The pain in her heart was heavier than the burden of the blame being placed on her. But she knew—she hadn't done anything wrong.

She looked at Trilochan with folded hands. "Kakasasur ji, ek baar meri baat par vishwas karke poori baat jaan lijiye. Main kuch galat nahi kar sakti."

But before she could say more, Anirudh grabbed her wrist firmly. “Chup raho, Bondita. Tumhari ek bhi baat sunne ka mann nahi hai ab!” His anger burned her more than his words.

---

At the corner of the hall, Saudamini smirked, satisfied that her plan was unfolding perfectly. Bondita was on the verge of breaking, Trilochan’s pride was shattered, and Anirudh was furious—just as she wanted. This was her moment of triumph. But just as she was basking in her small victory, the lead pandit spoke up again.

Pandit ji: “Ruko, ek baar sab kuch theek se dekh lete hain.”

Saudamini’s smile faltered. “Ab yeh kya naya natak hai?” she muttered under her breath, shifting nervously.

The pandit carefully inspected the kheer bowl that had caused the commotion. He brought the bowl closer to his nose and sniffed it, his expression growing suspicious. He took a spoon and stirred it before looking up sharply. “Isme kuch milaya gaya hai. Yeh bhog sudh nahi hai!”

Trilochan’s eyes widened. “Kya? Kya keh rahe ho, pandit ji?”

Pandit ji: “Isme ek khatti cheez milayi gayi hai jo bhog ke niyam ke virudh hai. Yeh kisi mansha se kiya gaya hai.”

The entire hall fell silent. People began whispering among themselves, and the tension in the air thickened.

Anirudh turned toward Bondita, confused and angry. "Tumne kya milaya isme?"

Bondita shook her head vigorously, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Main sach keh rahi hoon, pati babu. Maine kuch nahi milaya!"

Pandit ji’s stern gaze scanned the room, making everyone uneasy. The murmurs grew louder as people speculated, their voices tinged with suspicion and gossip. Trilochan's face darkened with embarrassment and anger. "Yeh ashubh hai! Bhog me aisi chook kabhi nahi honi chahiye," he muttered under his breath, casting a sharp glance at Bondita.
Bondita felt Trilochan’s accusatory glare pierce through her, making her heart sink. The weight of blame settled heavily on her shoulders, though she knew she was innocent. Her eyes darted nervously toward Anirudh, hoping for a flicker of support. But Anirudh's face remained clouded with confusion and doubt, and that uncertainty stung more than the crowd’s whispers.

“Kya sach mein Bondita se galti ho gayi?” Anirudh’s mind raced. He wanted to believe her, but the circumstances pointed otherwise.

Pandit ji's voice thundered again. “Bhog me koi bhi ashudh cheez milana shastra ke niyam ke khilaf hai. Iska parinaam bhayanak ho sakta hai.” His words carried a foreboding sense of doom, adding fuel to the growing tension.

Just then, Trilochan took a step forward. “Bahu  yeh tumhari zimmedari thi. Rasoi aur bhog mein chook kaise hui? Sach sach batao!” His voice was sharp, filled with disappointment.

Bondita’s throat constricted, tears welling up again. “Kaka sa, maine waise hi kheer banayi jaise hamesha banati hoon. Maine kuch nahi milaya,” she pleaded, her voice trembling. “Mujhe nahi pata yeh sab kaise hua.”

The murmurs in the crowd intensified, fueling speculation. Some whispered that Bondita had been careless, while others hinted at something more sinister—perhaps someone wanted to intentionally taint the ritual offering.

Bondita, despite her tears, straightened her back. “Main apni zimmedari se kabhi peechhe nahi hati, kaka sasurji. Par main jhooth nahi bolungi. Maine kuch nahi kiya hai.” Her voice was steady now, filled with quiet resolve.

Anirudh’s jaw clenched as he struggled with conflicting emotions. He wanted to believe Bondita, but the weight of the situation, coupled with everyone’s suspicion, clouded his mind. He glanced at Trilochan, whose stern face reflected disappointment and frustration.

“Koi aur zimmedar nahi ho sakta,” Trilochan said coldly, shaking his head. “Rasoi ka prashasan tumhare haath mein tha. Agar bhog ashudh hai, toh iska zimma tum par hi hai.”

Bondita’s heart sank further as she saw doubt flicker in Anirudh’s eyes. For a moment, she thought he would stand by her—but his silence spoke louder than any words. The pang of betrayal hit her like a storm.

The whispers from the crowd stung like needles. "Lagta hai bahu ne dhyan nahi diya," someone muttered. "Ya phir jaan bujhkar kiya ho... kaun jaane?" whispered another voice.

Bondita bit her lip, her hands trembling. No one trusted her. Not her husband, not her kaka-sasur, not even the people she had served with devotion. The isolation felt suffocating. Her mind raced, but her resolve only strengthened. She knew she had done nothing wrong, and she would not let herself be crushed by false accusations.

Through her tears, Bondita’s voice rang with quiet strength. “Jab mujhe sach ka pata hai, toh main apna sir jhukakar galat ilzaam nahi manungi.” She turned to Anirudh, her voice steady but filled with pain. “Aap mujh par vishwas nahi karte, pati babu?”

Anirudh flinched at her words, guilt stirring within him, but he remained silent, unsure of what to say. Trilochan, however, didn’t hold back. "Sachayi ya galti jo bhi ho, abhi prashasan aur maryada ko sambhalna zaroori hai. Tumhari zimmedari thi, Bondita. Yeh chook tumhari hi hai!"

Bondita’s fists clenched at her sides, her knuckles turning white. She could feel the injustice pressing down on her, but she refused to bend under its weight. “Kaka sasurji, agar main hi doshi hoti, toh main bina dare sabke samne apni galti maan leti,” she said firmly, her eyes locking with Trilochan’s. "Par yeh galti meri nahi hai."

Her words were like stones dropped into a still pond, sending ripples through the room. The murmurs quieted, and for a brief moment, all eyes were on her. But instead of respect, what she saw in their gazes was suspicion and blame.

Just then, Anirudh exhaled sharply. "Bondita..." he started, his voice hesitant. "Yeh mat bhoolo ki hamaari maryada aur sanskaar bhi utne hi zaroori hain jitna tumhara sach. Agar kuch galat hua hai, toh zimmedari lena zaroori hai—chahe galti kisi ki bhi ho par zimmedari tumne khud li thi or saza bhi tumhe sehni hogi "

Bondita stared at him, stunned. The one person she thought would stand beside her had faltered. “Toh iska matlab yeh hai,” she whispered, her voice breaking, “ki aap bhi mujh par bharosa nahi karte.”

Anirudh looked away, shame flickering across his face, but he said nothing.

Bondita felt something break inside her—something fragile and precious that she had nurtured with love and trust. She straightened her back, swallowing her tears. If no one stood with her, she would stand alone.

“Teek hai,” she said, her voice now hard as steel. “Agar aap sabko lagta hai ki main hi doshi hoon, toh mujhe sari saza manzoor hai .” Her eyes shone with a fierce determination. "Mujhe apne sach par poora vishwas hai, aur main yeh saabit karke rahungi chahe uske liye mujhe apki saza sweekar hi q na krni pde ."

Mini was happy seeing all this she succeeded in what she plannedMini watched the unfolding drama with a sense of satisfaction, her lips curling into a smirk as Bondita's resolve hardened. The tension in the room was palpable, and she reveled in the chaos she had sown. Watching Anirudh’s expression shift from uncertainty to guilt made her heart race; this was all going according to her plan.
