Chapter 11: Unconscious

I rushed towards Bachira, holding him in my arms. I noticed there was a big bump in the side of his head.

"Bachira! Bachira, wake up!" I looked around in a panic. "Isagi, what happened??"

"When we were playing, he hit his head on the soccer pole." Isagi answered.

"Oh, Bachira..." I examined the big bruise. So that's where he got it from...

"Someone, take him to my room." I needed to make sure that nothing in his head broke, or if it had, I would need to check the effects it would have on the brain.

Chigiri and Isagi helped carry him to my room, and they laid him down. Kiyoko helped me with the nursing equipment while everybody else waited in anticipation outside.

I hooked up a few wires, and I started my investigation.

"Looks like nothing in his skull is broken... he must've just been knocked out." Kiyoko commented.

Personally I saw nothing wrong as well.

"Isagi, how long has he been out?" I asked.

"Maybe 10 minutes? Nagi spent 5 minutes trying to wake him up." He stared accusingly at Nagi, who was at the doorway.

"Everybody, out of the room please. I'll deal with this myself." I said. Noticing the somber tone in my voice, they all left without a question.

As soon as I was alone, I started crying.

The tears poured out uncontrollably, and I could no longer contain the hopelessness that had swept inside of me. Seeing him in such a state... I was afraid that something would've happened to his brain. Forgetting who he was, forgetting what he loved...

Forgetting me.

I was so busy weeping about all the possibilities I hadn't realized Bachira had gotten up.

"Y/N? Whats going on?"

I looked up from my moping to see Bachira, smiling at me. That smile soon turned into a frown.

"Y/N, what's wrong?" He pouted. "I don't like seeing you cry."

I stared at him before embracing him.

"Oh, Bachira! You're awake! I thought I lost you..." I hugged him tighter, afraid that if I let go he would fall back unconscious.

"Y/N..." I could hear the surprise in voice. Then, he hauled me onto the bed either me. "There was no need to worry about me. I'm alright."

I stayed on the bed, crying and hugging him. I had been hanging out with him so much I hadn't evem realized how much I loved him. I didn't want to let him go. Not now, not ever.

We stayed like that until eventually we both fell asleep, with me in Bachira's arms, and him cuddling me like a stuffed bear.

Chigiri POV:

This is a perfect shot.

I looked at the picture I had taken with Kiyoko's phone. My subjects were the lovebirds themselves, Y/N and Bachira.

Those two would make an adorable couple.

I quietly snuck out of the room and handed Kiyoko her phone.

"What do you think?" I asked. "I think I did a pretty good job."

Kiyoko studied the picture before giving me an excited squeal, "Awww, they look perfect for each other!" She held the phone up like a trophy, and I chuckled.

"So, are you going to be using this blackmail purposes?" I asked.

"Well, I didn't think of that at first. But," she looked around sneakily. "now that you mention it, I just might."

Uh oh. If Y/N ever found out that I gave her such an idea, she'd kill me for sure.

I masked my fear with a nervous chuckle. "Well, if that's it, I'll be going now." I waved goodbye and made my exit.

Back to you're POV:

I woke up alone on my patient bed.

I got up and got dressed. After a while, I realized Bachira wasn't here. He must've went to play matches or was practicing like I had told him to.

Now my life seemed as quiet as ever, with only the nurses to keep me company. Not like I was ungrateful, but I just missed Bachira's presence.

During lunch, I spotted him at the cafeteria.

"Hey, Bachira! You wanna go get lunch together?" I asked. I had been thinking and missing him all day.

"Sure, Y/N." He said without even looking at me. A little odd, but maybe he was just tired or distracted.

As we sat down with our meals, I began a conversation. He mostly listened, which was a little unusual, but I didn't point it out until the very end.

"Bachira, you've been a little too quiet today. Is everything alright? How's your head feeling?" I asked.

Finally, for the first time today, he looked at me. When we met, our eyes seemed to have sent an electric shockwave throughout my whole body.

"Sorry I just... I just felt really tired. I didn't mean to make you worry." He gave me his smile, and my insides exploded into butterflies. His smile was the same as it had been when I first met him.

Suddenly, his smile faltered, and his eyes seemed a little... off. The were looking around, dazed and confused. Suddenly, he collapsed to the ground.

"Bachira! Bachira, are you okay??" I knelt down in front of him, and the memories of yesterday flooded back into my brain. Was he... dead?

No.

He was just alive a few moments ago!

"Bachira, please wake up..." I said as I checked for his pulse. His heavy was pumping, and he was still breathing. But what if... he just never woke up?

No, get it together, Y/N. You got this.

By then, Isagi and Chigiri were already there, picking Bachira up towards the nursing center. Thank God for the two of these saints.

We met Kunigami along the way, and he stared at us a bit before rushing to help carry Bachira.

He was a heavy boy, but they managed it faster with Kunigami's help.

As soon as you reached your room, you began doing scans and studies over his brain.

You had machines to regulate his blood flow and others to monitor his brain activity.

Everything was normal, so what was the problem?

"I'll take care of things." Miaka suddenly appeared.

"Miaka..." you began, "you barely know anything! Please, I have to help him."

Tears were now streaming down my face. I was worried for his life.

Miaks smiled gently at me, " I'm smarter than I look, Y/N, trust me. Go outside and wait." With that, she turned towards Bachira and started her work.

"Let's go, Y/N." Chigiri guided me out the door, with Isagi and Kunigami following.
