For the longest time, all I knew was pain. Before the destruction of my planet, the vast majority of my people were killed by the robotic armies that flooded us from the ships that hung loomingly in the atmosphere. We had no idea who controlled them, and who wanted our otherwise peaceful race destroyed in such a brutal fashion.
The only ones kept alive were people like me, sunsingers as we were called. We were a spiritual order of peacekeepers, individuals who had the gift of Munro the God of the sun, or as earthlings would call it, magic. Our magic was fueled by life and growth, and shone a bright golden colour. Looking down at the orb of magic in my hand, I couldn't help but shiver at how all consuming and dark the black ball of liquid shadows were. It swallowed all light around it like a black hole, and if one looked closely enough, you could see how the light bends around it as if to try and avoid being sucked in by the abyss.
That was my curse now. As the only member of the Sunsingers who survived the experiments of our mysterious jailers, I was cursed to forever forsake the light and life that fueled our magic of old. Their experiments started out by being viral in nature, in an attempt to make a biological virus capable of culling the population of a planet without the need of their metallic warrior legions.
Their primary viral candidate was meant to make the population of a planet go feral, and in their frenzy they would consume their brethren. However, when they exposed me to the virus, my magic protected me. It gave the last rays of sun and purity it had left to keep me alive, and that saved life came at the price of turning my magic dark and consuming. My body however was still affected, but rather than turning into a frenzied cannibal, my body craved the blood of those not affected by the virus.
In hindsight I can only chuckle at that, knowing that my very presence on earth was the inspiration that led humans to write horror tales of bloodsucking nosferatu. Of beautiful creatures that would consume the blood of beautiful young maidens. If only everything about the experiments I underwent could be such a laughing matter.
After that, their experiments got worse. Much worse. Over my unimaginably long imprisonment, my jailers got their hands on the Power Stone. How they got it, and how they lost it again I don't rightly know, but after I was exposed to it my new and darker magic became uncontrollable. It was more powerful than anything I'd ever seen in my long lifetime, and it frightened both me and my jailers. I was forced to wear a collar that would dampen my magic after that like a dog, so that the pet wouldn't bite the master.
It wasn't the only Infinity Stone that they exposed me to, but it was undoubtedly the one with the biggest impact on my powers. The second and last stone was the Space Stone, which is what eventually led to the death of my jailers and my own escape to earth.
Once I felt confident in my ability to open a portal with my newfound power, I used the super strength from my viral infection that my jailers were unaware of, to rip off my collar allowing my magic to fill my cell. After that, it was an absolute massacre. I spared none of them, because they themselves showed no mercy for my own kind, so I showed them none in return. Leaving the Space Stone behind on their capital sized ship, I made a portal to destinations unknown in a desperate attempt to escape the place that had been my own personal hell.
Falling through the darkness of the portal, I crashed into the ground in a large forest, leaving behind a crater from my hard landing as the only evidence of my arrival to this new planet. A planet that it's own inhabitants would eventually come to name earth, thousands of years after my arrival. The planet was underdeveloped, and technologically light-years behind my old home, but with a bit of careful guidance and interference from me, it quickly got on a fast track to becoming what it has become today. Many would call it hubris, but the human race really owed me a debt they could never hope to repay.
All of this brings us to today.

Looking out at the New York skyline from my penthouse apartment with a glass of bourbon in my hand, I can't stop my sigh as soon as I sense him. "Don't you know that you should take no for a no when a woman says it Fury? I'm sure I heard somewhere that consent is important." The scoff he lets out tells me he didn't appreciate my joke. "As much as I want to get you to join SHIELD Aelevea, that isn't the reason for my visit this time."
Turning my chair around to face him, I give him a pout while carefully inspecting his body language. "Then for what other reason do you find yourself in my home, at three in the goddamn morning Fury?" There's no longer any amusement in my voice, as the liquid smoke flows around my empty hand in threat. "We have a space problem, one I suspect you might be interested in." Despite my display of power, his voice is still infuriatingly calm and steady.
"And what is it this time Fury? I suspect it isn't related to your friend Captain Marvel, since she hasn't been back to earth in quite a while." My voice is bitter at the thought of Carol Danvers, seeing as she's the entire reason why Fury is even aware of me. Prior to her, the world peacefully believed that space was empty and that they could all sleep safely in their beds at night. The surprise in his eyes lasted only but a few seconds, but more than enough for me to catch it. "Surprised I knew about her hum?" My tutting is intentional, in a hope to rile Fury up a bit.
"While I'm surprised you know, I was more surprised that I thought you didn't. With someone who's been alive as long as you have, I guess you probably have more connections around the world than SHIELD does." Giving him a nod as I take a sip from my glass, I give him the signal to continue.
"The reason I'm here at all, is because Loki of Asgard has stolen the tesseract." My entire body stiffens at the sentence, knowing full well that Fury isn't aware of what the tesseract truly is. "I suspect that the reason he knew of its existence is because SHIELD has been messing with things they don't understand." My glare is cold as ice, and if looks could kill, he'd be little more than a cloud of red fluid. The silence is all the answer I needed to know that I was right.
"I'll help, but only because you humans are horribly outgunned. But once we're done, I'll personally protect the tesseract so it isn't used to lure in powers you can't control again." Fury doesn't answer me, instead turning to leave my apartment expecting me to follow him. Emptying my glass, I place it on the table next to me, before following him out of my apartment.
