Chapter 2

Speeding into the big room, I'm met with a big glass prison in the middle of the room. Sitting down in the middle, is a black haired Asgardian who I assume is the notorious Loki that stole the tesseract. Letting out a small tsk to get his attention, it's clear he's confused about who I am.

"Loki the Asgardian who messed with things he didn't understand." Sliding down on the floor to sit criss-cross applesauce in front of the glass with a wide grin on my face, it's clear I have his attention. "But then again, I can sense the magic washing off of you and it certainly isn't your own. So maybe the more accurate description would be Loki the Asgardian who was unknowingly forced to mess with something he didn't understand." His brows furrowed in confusion, clearly not aware of the influence that was being asserted on him to bring out his worst impulses.

"And who are you? The rest of this mismatched band of merry do gooders I know, but not you." There's a slight edge to his voice, unintentionally showing me his frustration. I give him a lazy shrug and a wide smile. "Who I am is irrelevant in all honesty, what is relevant however is what you want with the tesseract. Or more accurately I suppose, who do you want to get the tesseract for?" Summoning a bit of shadow to float around one of my fingers for me to play with, it's clear he's interested in my magic.

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about mage, all I want is to claim my rightful place as king of Midgard." His voice comes out low, showing that I'm getting to him. Letting out a small humm of curiosity, I continue to not look at him, not giving him the attention he craves as I play with my magic. "And pigs have started flying, so of course that's all you want. However, here's my own educated guess. I think you plan to use the tesseract to form a big portal so you can call in the little pests you call Chitauri, have them do all the dirty work for you like a little coward, and then hand off the tesseract to your benefactor afterwards. Am I getting warm yet?"

The snarl he lets out tells me all I need to know, so I look back at him with an innocent smile that practically screams victory. "But I suppose Thor gave you more credit than you're worth, considering how big of a loser you have to be to be caught this early on in your plan." He visibly bristles at my accusation, and the childlike smile and innocence I said it with.

Maria, Fury, and me are looking at a monitor keeping an eye on Aelevea as she talks to Loki. "What exactly is she doing Fury?" My voice is low, almost a whisper as I watch the screen in anticipation. "I have no goddamn clue Romanoff." That catches me a little off guard, Fury always knows what he's working with. Unless it's in fact the first time he's working with Aelevea. "You've never worked with her before have you?" The shake of his head is all I get, as he turns up the volume.

"I'm no loser mage!" The snarl on Loki's face is the complete opposite of the calm and innocent one on Aelevea's face. "You're not? I wouldn't know, you're sitting in a cell after all. Isn't that the definition of failure? You didn't even have the balls to die fighting, instead you got caught like a wimp." Her smile remains childlike, but there's definitely something sinister underneath it. Something Loki clearly completely misses in his anger.

"My plan is going exactly as it should! Your group of boy scouts will eventually fall apart, and when it does the beast comes out to play!" Loki is practically screaming in rage, and Aelevea simply closes her eyes in pleasure at her victory. "I'll be damned, she did it." While his voice is flat as usual, I can practically hear the smirk on Nick's face. "Did you get that Fury? I don't know who this beast is, but I take it that it has a meaning to our little boy band?" Aelevea looks borderline manic in her exclamation, clearly getting more and more excited at her victory on the other side of the screen.

"I got it Aelevea, thank you. Now, please refrain from angering the God of the glass tank any further." Well that's new. Fury sounds borderline amused at Aelevea's shenanigans. "As you demand my one-eyed government drone." I choke on a laugh, and next to me Maria is biting her lip to refrain from laughing. "You might be older than me, that doesn't mean I'll take cheek from you Aelevea." With anyone else that would've been a reprimand from Fury, but here it actually sounded like a joke. And based on her laugh, Aelevea clearly took it as one too. Giving a playful salute, she speeds out of the room so fast it isn't visible on the screen.

"Where did you manage to find this one Fury? She seems a little manic." My body stiffen when Fury actually breaks out in a laugh while turning to face me. "We became aware of the energy spikes from her magic in the 90s, and I've been trying to recruit her ever since. We have no idea exactly where she comes from, or how old she is, but we didn't put up any fight against her when it became obvious she'd lived peacefully on earth longer than SHIELD had existed." She did imply she was thousands of years old in the meeting room, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

"Somewhere along the way she even became friends with Coulson, and she even gifted him some of his vintage Captain America cards." I smile a little at that. From what she said she's been through hell and back, but she still has it in her heart to care about humans despite our fleeting lives compared to her own.
