"Kate?" Lexi's voice called from close by.
I pulled away from Lindsey quickly and ran into the toilet. I did actually need to pee. I shut the door and heard a muffled conversation between Lindsey and Lexi while I used the toilet then flushed and washed my hands. I came out with a smile on my face. Lexi looked quizzically between me and Lindsey.
"Hey, baby."
"Hey beautiful, I got ice cream."
I smiled and took the ice cream while pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Thank you." I took a lick, swiping up the running sauce. "Mm, love blue and purple sauce."
She giggled and took my hand. "You coming Lindsey?" She asked sweetly while licking her ice cream.
Lindsey nodded and followed after us after sliding her ray bans back on.
"Hey. Where you been?" Oscar asked as he came jogging towards us with two ice creams in hand.
He passed one to Lindsey who took it with a smile and looked at me while taking a seductive lick from it. I breathed deeply and kept licking my ice cream.
"Hello, Katie," Oscar said politely.
I smiled but inside I felt terrible. I just agreed to help un-confuse his girlfriend and that meant her cheating on him. God, it was bad. It was so, so bad. "Hey, Oscar. This is Lexi my... um... friend."
I kept my eyes trained on his face because I could feel the burn of Lexi's glare on my cheek. She was going to have me for that later and I was going to have to tell her what was happening with Lindsey. I couldn't hurt her like that.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Oscar and this is Brian." He jerked his head in Brian's direction who gave a loud grunt in response.
"I know. We go to the same school." Lexi laughed and I closed my eyes to the sound.
I was going to have to stop seeing her if I wanted to see Lindsey. There was no way I could get her hopes up and act like everything was normal when I was going to be... What was I going to be doing with Lindsey? Sleeping with her? The muscles deep in my belly clenched at the thought.
What do I do? I liked Lexi and I didn't want to let her go. But I wanted Lindsey too. What are you going to do Kate? Think fast, you've already agreed to help Lindsey. Ugh, I was so dumb.
"Kate? Kate!"
I opened my eyes, looking between the four faces in confusion, feeling the sticky run of the ice cream melting down my hand. I looked at them, and then at my hand and blinked slowly, my foggy brain trying to register what I was seeing. Finally, I got it. "Oh."
Lexi frowned, placing her hand on my forehead while throwing the ice cream to the floor. "Are you ok? Do you have sun stroke or something?"
I shook my head, biting my bottom lip. "I just feel queasy. I'm going to go wash off in the sea then I think I want to go home."
I looked guiltily at Lexi, ignoring everyone else. Her frown deepened, causing little lines of worry to crease in her forehead. "Um, ok. I'll pack the stuff up."
I nodded and left them all as I headed for the water. The drive home in the taxi from the train station was silent. I wasn't sure if it was uncomfortable because I was so wrapped up in my own head, and thoughts, that I didn't pay any attention to Lexi, who was silent for the whole ride home.
Perhaps it was because of what had happened earlier, and we were ignoring it. We pulled up outside my house and I stared blankly into the street, biting my bottom lip in nerve-racking guilt. I felt so terrible.
