Something didn't feel right. I was hot. Beyond hot, it felt like I was baking in an oven. I groaned and pushed the arm that was slung around my waist off of me. With the arm, a body followed, leaving me space to breathe and remove the heat. Lexi? I turned onto my other side and ignored the pang of disappointment as my eyes met blonde hair instead of brown.

Biting my bottom lip, I gently shook Lindsey awake. Groaning, she opened her eyes and blinked at me in confusion, before she smiled widely and leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to my lips. I swallowed softly. They didn't feel like Lexi's; they didn't rage a fire deep in my belly.

"Morning. Um, we have school," I mumbled as I looked at the clock on my bedside table that read 6:30 AM in bright green letters.

Lindsey's eyes widened and she shot up out of bed, completely naked as she picked up and put on pieces of her clothes around the room. I smiled at the sight of her creamy skin in an ivory lace bra and panties set. She found the tatters of her t-shirt and grimaced, pulling her leather jacket on and zipping it to her throat.

"That color goes very nice with your skin," I complimented as she released the zip.

Turning to me with a smile on her pretty face she walked over to and kissed me softly on the lips. I giggled and bit her bottom lip, bringing it into my mouth and running my tongue along hers. Lindsey gasped quietly and cupped my face, climbing on top of me so that I had to grab her hips.

"Mm, Linds, we really need to go to school."

"Let's skip. I want to kiss you all day," she whispered with a smile.

"What about Oscar?" I breathed quietly, not wanting to ruin our good mood with each other this morning but having to say it anyway.

Stopping what she was doing, Lindsey lifted her head and pouted at me, clearly not happy. "I suppose you're right."

She sighed, pecked my lips and climbed off of me. I followed suit, getting out of my warm bed and wrapping the blanket from the end of the bed around my body. Lindsey put the rest of her clothes on while I pulled out a black tank top, jeans, and underwear from my chest of drawers as it was non-uniform Friday.

"Guess I'll see you at school," Lindsey muttered as she opened my bedroom door.

I nodded, paying more attention to my clothes than her. Why was this so awkward all of a sudden? Once she left, I breathed a sigh of relief. Relief for what? I didn't know. I walked across the landing to the bathroom and took a shower. After my shower, I brushed my teeth, my hair, dried, got dressed, used the toilet then washed my hands.

"Kate, are you in the bathroom sweetie?" My mom called from outside the bathroom door.

I dried my hands on the towel I just used that was now in the dirty wash and unlocked the door, pulling it open. My mom was standing on the other side, her nose red, a bundle of tissues in her hand and her hair terribly greasy, which wasn't normal for her.

She seemed to be repressing a fit of coughs as she breathed in miss matched patterns. "Are you okay?" I asked, looking over her disheveled state.

Shaking her head, she blew her nose loudly and then turned her back to me as she coughed. I patted her back softly while using my other hand to run my fingers through her hair. "Mom, what's wrong?"

She shook her head, sniffling. "Nothing Katie bear, I just have a cold."

I frowned as it was a rare sight to see my mom ill. She very rarely got sick and she rarely ever called me Katie bear. It was then that I noticed the red flannel pajamas she had on, reserved for illness's and other bad happenings when she had to stay in the house all day.
