Katana was once again in the gym, watching Bokuto's practice. This time, she couldn't care less about gyms or even practice, as she was overly excited.
"Oikawa is coming back tomorrow, right?" Kuroo asked and Atsumu hummed and nodded before setting Bokuto the ball.
The ace tensed at the words right when he was about to spike the ball. He missed it, hurting his finger in the process. The ace had completely forgotten about him coming back. He still wasn't ready to officially meet him as Katana's best friend.
"Are you okay?" Kuroo raised an eyebrow and looked at his friend who was holding his finger with a scrunched up face. Katana's eyes quickly snapped over to Bokuto who only hummed as a response.
The girl got up from the bench and walked over to her boyfriend. "Here, let me see," she said and gently took his hand, looking at it. His fingers seemed to be okay but his nail was torn and slightly bleeding. "I'll go get something to fix this up." Bokuto only nodded while Katana left the gym.
"What was that Bo-san? Everyone can spike my tosses!" Atsumu almost shrieked while grabbing Bokuto's shoulders and shaking him.
"He's probably nervous now that Oikawa's coming back and he's dating his best friend," Kenma said and let out a sigh, sitting on the floor.
Kuroo only raised an eyebrow and put a hand on his side. "You're not really nervous are you?"
Bokuto only sighed. Oikawa already knew that they were dating but he was still nervous. He didn't want to make a bad impression as a boyfriend. Oikawa tended to be quite dramatic about anything really. The ace tensed when a sudden thought came to his mind. What am I doing? Our relationship is fake.
The sudden realisation hit him like a truck. Bokuto was so used to her being around him that he had completely forgotten that Katana wasn't really his girlfriend. Being a couple with her came so normal and natural to him; he really liked and cared about her. Every time they were apart, he found himself thinking about her and what she was doing, even wishing to be by her side. Her presence left him all warm and bubbly inside while her smile and laugh made his heart flutter. He felt the need to protect her from the world and its cruelty, he wanted her to stay safely in his arms never wanting to let go again.
Bokuto gulped, looking up at Kuroo with wide eyes. Oh shit.
Kuroo knitted his eyebrows when he saw the panic flashing in his friend's eyes. "Are you-"
Katana came back with tapes and band aids. Walking up to Bokuto, she shot him a small smile. "Let's get you fixed up." He nodded and followed her to the bench where they sat down. She took his hand and gently put the band aid around his finger, "It's nothing major, you'll still be able to play."
Bokuto gulped and looked at her concentrated face. A soft smile grew on his lips, finding it cute how focused she was; her nose scrunched up the tiniest bit as she slightly bit the corner of her lip.
He grimaced when pain shot through his finger. A torn nail was more painful than he expected. Katana looked up when she finished taping his finger only to see a painful expression on his face. "It hurts," Bokuto quietly whined and pouted as his shoulders dropped.
She smiled and pressed a soft kiss on his finger. "There you go, all better," she said as his cheeks tinted pink. Katana gulped and awkwardly smiled when Bokuto didn't look away. She blushed under his intense stare but couldn't look away either.
"Oi Bokuto!" Kuroo called out, making both of them flinch and looking away from each other immediately. "You can suck each other's faces off later." Kuroo's smirk and teasing tone made Katana blush even harder. She cleared her throat and avoided eye contact with everyone in the gym.
