Scott POV
Mitch. That's who can help me. He came out to me so he must have told his parents. I love Kirstie and her great ideas. Even though she doesn't even know how Mitch could help me or that he's gay.
"Hey, Scottie Boy, what brings you here?" I looked around his house for any signs of his parents or sister. I didn't see anyone or hear any voices so I ran up into his bedroom. "Earth to Scottland?" I could hear Mitch but only as background noise as I prepared what I was going to say in my head.
Coming out to Mitch was going to reassure me that someone, other than Kirstie, can accept me. And hopefully he could give me at least some advice on how to deal with my parents. But I had to be careful about accidentally telling him that I have a crush on him because, as my mind likes to remind me, he definitely doesn't like me like that.
"Scott!"
He brought me out of my trance by his voice. I grabbed his shoulders and pushed him onto the edge of his bed. "Get comfortable, this might take a while."
He sat on his bed and looked up at me with worried eyes. "Is that about why you haven't been at school for two days?"
"Oh shit. Yeah. I guess I have to start at the beginning." I laughed as he made a face which screamed 'duh'. I took a deep breath and started to explain.
"So... I got expelled. Weird to say aloud. Makes me sound all bad." He rolled his eyes at me and put out his hand to make me continue.
"Sorry. Um, you know the principal we always laugh at because of her fifty-inch heels that she can't walk in? Well I actually had a conversation with her."
"Wait. Why did you get expelled? You are basically the teacher's pet." He checked his nails and smiled, waiting for my reaction.
"First all of just because I pay attention in class doesn't mean I'm the teacher's pet. And secondly have some patience my friend, I'm getting there." I started to pace around his room, keeping my eyes to the floor.
"You have to promise not to get mad when I tell you. It wasn't even that bad and the principal was so overreacti-"
"Oh my god, get on with it!"
"I broke his phone. The guy that had the picture of the kiss. I broke it." I stopped pacing and looked at him. He didn't speak but his face looked confused and a little surprised.
"I tried to get him expelled too but apparently there wasn't any evidence against him." He nodded and took in the information I had given him. I knew he wanted to ask me why I did it but I was not about to tell him that. Before he could say anything I carried on.
"But anyway that isn't what I came here to tell you."
I held my breath and my mouth spoke before my mind even told it to.
"I'm gay."
I looked down and glued my eyes to his floor. The moment of silence reminded me of when I told my mom. It made my confidence fade even though I knew 100% that Mitch wouldn't ignore me.
"Come here." He jumped up and wrapped his arms around my waist. We hugged for what felt like hours.
"You're always copying me!" He whined as we pulled away. I let out a shaky laugh and ran my fingers through my hair. He turned to go back to sit on his bed.
"Mitchie?" He returned to his position on the edge of the bed and crossed his legs.
"Have you told your parents?" My voice sounded small and nervous.
"Yeah, I told them and my sister the day after I told you. Why'd you ask?"
"What did they say?" I wished my mom had reacted better but until my conversation with Kirstie I thought it was a normal way to react.
